View Full Version : The "If I was in the Disneyland marketing dept." topic
I may be weird, but it seems I am always thinking of something Disneyland should be doing to make money, because I will buy just about anything with the Disney name on it (ask Andy, he will tell ya).
Have you ever been at Disneyland, or left, or not there yet, and thought, boy they should sell __________. They could make a ton of money.
If so, I would love to hear what you thought of.
My most recent thought from this trip: Videos of their parades, including the show stops. I don't live in California, and don't get to go monthly. I would love to be able to watch from home to keep the magic alive. No, it would not keep me from going back to see it live. It would make me want to get back to see it live. I think Disney could make a ton of money by making official DVD's of each parade.
So, what is your marketing idea?

I know this is an old thread, but ... :hehe:
I don't want to sound like a complainer, but there ARE a few gripes I have about Disneyland. First of all, the food is way too expensive. It should either taste better or simply be more affordable. Second of all, in the winter months they close up a lot of the food places. It's really hard to find a place to eat in the park. That sucks when you have a big family or little ones who are picky. Like I said, I'm not trying to post a gripe about the place, but the food department really has issues. They need more coffee stands too. The carts close up way too soon and then the one place on Main Street is literally PACKED with huge lines near closing time. If I were in Disney marketing, I'd put up those coffee booths at the parking structure so people can get a big cup of coffee before they get in their cars. We always had a 2 hour drive home and at midnight, that's HARD! I really think people who support a coffee stand, especially if it means staying awake on the way home.

Here here Rena - you are a woman after my own heart! I want a Starbucks too - I am so sick of the nasty coffee they sell there!!! And, I AM griping, because there's just no reason that they won't stick to it and negotiate a contract with Starbucks! Come on already - they could open 2 on each side of DTD and they'd STILL be packed!!! The coffee they have is an okay substitute when you've just gotta have something for your headache - at least the one at the end of DTD by the DLHotel. BUT, I want my Starbucks, I want to pay $5 and have a fantastic cup of coffee to enjoy rather than trying to keep the nasty smut they sell from rising from my stomach!!!!!
The food is also a problem for me there. I was pretty disappointed to see every restaurant in Toontown closed on our last trip and then the closest being that Village Haus place - which can be shut down entirely if you ask me - nastiest food and worst experience we had on the trip. Some of it is getting better. DTD or Goofy's is definitely the place to go for real food. Dinners are a huge problem inside DL - it's cheap stuff that doesn't taste well at all and the good places shut down and you're just stuck.
I've got to agree on the parades and shows - even one official DVD with scenes from each thing would be a joy to watch!
Ladies, the food department is more of an issue that you even know at this time, so I won't go into that, but I will agree with you!
Rena, your idea of a coffee stand in the parking garage is a wonderful one - too bad this is Disney and you can't turn that into a money making venture for yourself!
