Well, Leanne's little one loves cars and she loves Leapfrog products, I'll send her a PM to read this post.
We don't have that one, but we do have others. Leapster, Leap frog are wonderful products, so I would not hesitate to buy one. You can go to our site, click on shopping, scroll down to Amazon shopping and get it there to help support our site.

I got the Leapster for Morgan for Christmas with a couple of the games. Which ones have you folks gotten and what do you think of them?

I'm pretty sure we have Thomas the Tank, Cars, Reading with Phonics, and maybe a Dora one. Colby is getting the Backyardigan one for Christmas. You can also use headphones with the Leapster which makes it nice when you are in the car/plane. This is a great gaming system that teaches the kiddos lots of things - I'm a huge Leap Frog fan!

As an aside question - has anyone had issues with their Leapster or L-Max?
We are actually on our 3rd L-Max and still in the warranty period! We just got the 3rd one brand new from LeapFrog this week.
The first one had pen/screen issues, and the second one just quit working entirely - would not turn on.
Would just like to know if any other users have had any issue.
Miss G loves "Letters on the Loose" and the Backyardigans cartridge.

Wow Anna, you're going to have to update me on this. Now, what's the dif between the Leapster and L-Max???
Gig 'em - Mickey!
12-02-2006, 06:54 AM
We have the plain Leapster and have never had any problems with it. But, we do have a My First Leap Pad that isn't working correctly (but, it's out of the warrany period!).

Anna, I am so sorry you've had such problems. We actually are going on the 2nd year for the Leapster and we have a my 1st leap pad that have never broken.

Shawna -
L-Max is like a Leapster - but you can plug it into the TV and with the L-Max games get additional functionality. DH idea to spring for the higher priced unit.
I love the unit/games - but I am irked over the amount of time we have spent on the thing. All our other LeapFrog toys (incl. my first leap pad) are fine.
If we have to replace again out of warranty...I will go regular Leapster.. It's good to know others have had good luck with that product.

Sharon --
Does Jonathan have the "Animal Genius" for Leapster? My boys just love it and can't put it down at times. It's really cute and has all kinds of interesting facts about animals on it. I still haven't gotten the "Cars" one yet. Let me know how J likes that one.

No, Jonathan doesn't have that one. I'll have to check it out. I never did get the Cars cartridge. The idea got lost in the 30 other gift ideas we had. LOL!
However, we did get a box from you. And I'm terrible becuase I have something to send you as well. I'll be sure to get it out Tuesday. I'll send you a proper thank you as well but I LOVE ALL OF THE HUCKLEBERRY STUFF!!! Cocoa that turns purple? Now that's cool! And Jonathan will be opening his on Christmas. I cheated. :hehe:

Shawna (12/25/2006)[hr]Okay, what is a huckleberry? Where do they grow???
You surely have huckleberries in CO -- no? I've seen huckleberry stuff as far down as SLC, so I am just guessing you have them in CO as well. They look like blueberries, but are purple. Apparently, they can't be harvested commerically and have to be hand-picked only. Everything in MT is huckleberry flavoured -- LOL! I guess the bears really like them too. I'm not sure if our property has any huckleberries on it or not yet. It was late autumn when we moved in and 3 days later everything was covered in snow. I'll have to find out what the bushes look like. Here's a good site that has a lot of huckleberry stuff in it. I've ordered from them from CA before --

BTW Shawna -- Let me know if you DON'T have huckleberry stuff in CO. For some reason, I just assumed they grew there too, so I didn't send my BIL and his family any huckleberry stuff for Christmas this year. :P

12-26-2006, 07:57 PM
Rena, I have not seen Huckleberry stuff anywhere here in Colorado - at least when I was living here before. I haven't noticed any recently and there are no huckleberries at the store (unless it's a seasonal thing!)
Thanks for the info. So, they're big like blueberries or small like mulberries? We do have lots of mulberry trees and those are so yummy!!!!!!
Wiggles1
12-26-2006, 08:14 PM
Hmmm -- I would have sworn they were a big thing in Colorado too. That's interesting. I honestly can't tell you how big they are. I've never had fresh ones, sadly. This will all change come summertime though! They sell them in little stands all over the place, just like they do with the fresh cherries here in Bigfork. I'm really looking forward to both this summer! But the ones I've seen are in jams and such, so I don't know if they're the same exact size as a blueberry or a little bigger. I guess I'll find out soon enough! They have everything with huckleberry up here. Coffees, teas, chocolates, taffy (mmm!), jelly beans, cakes, cookies, breads, syrups, jams, jellies, pie filling, brownies and so forth. There are even candles, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, lipgloss and more. It's funny because the label says "Do Not Use In Bear Country" on the lotions and things. I guess the bears really love huckleberries.

Oh good -- I'm glad he likes the taffy. It's a big hit here with us too. I'll have to send you some of the huckleberry brownie mix soon. It's really good.
Speaking of which, I have a bottle of huckleberry wine, so I think I'm off to drink some of that and watch a movie with Rick soon. :)
Sharon - when are you going back to Disneyland? The Disneyland Taffy is something I purchase each trip and ours is already gone! :(

Tink (12/28/2006)[hr]Sharon - when are you going back to Disneyland? The Disneyland Taffy is something I purchase each trip and ours is already gone! :(
Awww, Rick brought some back from CA when he got here, but it was so darn hard. We couldn't even eat it. I didn't dare too, not with all my dental work and not having a dentist up here yet -- LOL! I usually love DL's taffy too. They have a Divinity that's really, really good too. I should have had him bring that up with him -- LOL!
I am really picky about my divinity, so haven't tried Disneylands, but I will next time!

You guys, we are a taffy family and although I love Disneyland's, I came across a manufacturer that makes the best!!!! And I can order it online!!!! If any of you want to check it out, let me know and I'll PM it to you!
Really Shawna - heck, post it here! I am sure it is a non-competing site, so let us know.
Another place I always get taffy from is Estes Park. Yummy.

It's definitely not competing, but I didn't want to compete with Disneyland either being a fan!
Go to taffyshop.com - the caramel apple is my fav and it's the BEST I've ever had! We happened across this brand in Reno in July and I went online to find it - this is the place with the best prices and you can pick your flavors. Amazing!!!

I will have to check that out, thanks for the site info
Okay I had to jump in here because of the bear warning. My comment has NOTHING to do with this topic just to warn you.
At California Adventure - Alex finally realized Grizzly Peak is a bear. A big bear with teeth. So evertime we were in site of Grizzly Peak, Alex would very quietly say: "don't wake the bear". It made me laugh so hard the first time I heard it. But he was serious! :D

Don't you just love those moments. Tonight Trey was talking about his dad not sharing the playstation and calling him "shellfish". I am not sure if is words got mixed up or if it was from his bottom 2 teeth being gone. I also had a little boy in my class ask me if I wanted any contact but to be careful they are a little spicy. He was referring to tic tacs.

I'm picky about it too and DL has some good stuff. I got some up here from a local grocery store and it was weird -- almost powdery-like. Rick's made it a few times for me too, but it's just easier to buy it. Vons actually has some pretty decent stuff, though we don't have those up here.
And Leanne -- that's cute how Alex realized the mountain was a bear at CA Adventure. :)

I do too, Shawna. One day before we sold our house in CA, Neil was excited about playing with a new toy. He looks at me and says, "Mommy, can I move your showing books so I can play with this on the table?" <[i]Showing books,</[i] as he saw them, were the magazines we kept on the coffee tables for show purposes. I haven't really kept them on the tables since before having kids, but we started to do that while showing the house. It was just too cute how he said it.

Lol Rena! That's great! To my surprise tonight Morgan decided to wear the everyday princess dress up shirt, tutu, and a purse to the grocery store. We had to pack her purse with money and debit card from her play cash register - then she INSISTED on paying for the groceries at the store! So adorable! And was so upset when the Starbucks inside the store was closed - she wanted her peppermint cocoa to drink and put in HER cupholder in the cart - so we had to go to another Starbucks on the way home...which I did not mind one bit!
Morgan plays "clean and shiny" with a bottle of "squirt squirt" and a towel - I did mad cleaning dashes to sparkle everything up right before a showing (which paid off tremendously and if you've never used Orangle Glo wood polish - I got so many positive comments alone about the wonderful smell and shine...)
lol Rena - we had to teach Alex that the mountain was a bear. He thought it was a tiger. lol At least we had him well trained before we left!
And yes, I have tried making divinity before, and failed horribly. It is NOT easy to make. lol

Rick's made divinity before and it turned out really well. But he agrees and says it's hard to make. I posted that on WMB once and a bunch of people started rambling that it was really easy to make. They must have a different recipe.Actually, the stuff Vons sells from time to time is very much like the stuff @ Disneyland. The stuff I bought up here at a market recently was hard, kind of powdery when you bit into it. The other stuff (Vons & DL) is more sticky, chewie and like a white marshmallow type fudge.
Great -- :hehe: -- now I want some!
Disney5
01-03-2007, 09:28 AM
Yes - that's the RIGHT kind Rena! I want some too!!! It looks intimidating for a kid, but after you try it - pretty nice!!!
I do think the altitude here has something to do with making divinity, but not sure. I will have to try Disneyland's next time!
