In <A title=Japan href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan">Japan, guests can get passes for the <A title="Tokyo Disney Resort" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Disney_Resort">Tokyo Disney Resort.
Disney Stores are located in malls and commercial areas in the <A title="United States" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States">United States, <A title=Canada href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada">Canada, the <A title="United Kingdom" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom">United Kingdom, France, Spain, <A title=Italy href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy">Italy and Japan. Quite a number of stores used to open in <A title="Hong Kong" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong">Hong Kong. However, many of them were closed in the last few years and the only Hong Kong Disney Store is now located in the <A title="Hong Kong International Airport" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_International_Airport">Hong Kong International Airport. The Hong Kong store is renamed as The Magic of Hong Kong Disneyland and managed by the <A title="Hong Kong International Theme Parks" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_International_Theme_Parks">Hong Kong International Theme Parks. Only the European Disney Stores remain property of the Walt Disney Company; Japanese Disney Stores are owned and operated by <A title="The Oriental Land Company" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oriental_Land_Company">The Oriental Land Company, the company that owns and operates the <A title="Tokyo Disney Resort" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Disney_Resort">Tokyo Disney Resort, and in the United States and Canada, they are owned and operated primarily by Hoop Retail Stores, a wholly owned subsidiary of <A class=new title="The Children's Place" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Children%27s_Place&amp;action=edit">The Children's Place, LLC. Both Oriental Land and The Children's Place operate Disney Stores under long-term license agreements with <A title="The Walt Disney Company" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walt_Disney_Company">The Walt Disney Company. TCP's operating agreements extend at least 50 years.
Having realized the decline of popularity of the mall-based chain, Disney decided to sell Disney Store. Japanese stores were sold in 2002, while most North American stores were sold in November 2004. European stores remain on the market, and are in danger of being closed due to declining revenue. Disney's new company-owned store chain is <A title="World of Disney" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Disney">World of Disney, but still owns and operates the Disney Store on the company lot in <A title="Burbank, California" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burbank%2C_California">Burbank, California, which is accessible only to Disney employees and special guests. Having sold the majority of the Disney Stores, Disney's flagship Disney Store is now on <A title="Oxford Street" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_Street">Oxford Street, <A title=London href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London">London.
The Children's Place intends to reinvigorate the Disney Store brand in the United States by expanding the number of stores, reducing initial selling prices (Disney Stores have been well known for inflated initial prices, which would be marked down substantially after just a few weeks), and opening outlet stores, which have lower operating costs and typically have a high profit margin even though they have reduced prices versus mall stores.
Disney Store's website is not currently operated by Disney Store. Under the terms of the contract of The Children's Place with <A title="The Walt Disney Company" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walt_Disney_Company">The Walt Disney Company, for a period of time the website www.disneystore.com will redirect guests to Disney's web-based retail center, DisneyShopping.com. The Children's Place will acquire the DisneyStore.com domain in 2007.

Very interesting - thanks for posting. Their customer service has gone rapidly downhill - it's terrible!!!! I hate shopping with them now - I'd rather save all my money and wait until I can get into World of Disney, even if it is only once a year - if they just trained their CM's in the stores better and held them to the high standards like the rest of Disney, they'd do much better.
Last year I ordered a footy pajama for Morgan for Christmas with Mickey on it. I got one for my nephew as well. We had to re-order my nephew's twice because they made computer errors on their coding vs. inventory stuff and kept sending the wrong sizes. I had to re-order Morgan's THREE times. Then they threatened me - I had to pay postage and insurance to send back the wrong ones even though it was their error (which they admitted) and they told me this AFTER having ensured me they'd take care of it. I was on the phone for 3 hours demanding to speak to a manager (no kidding!) because I was not paying for any more postage when I had already paid shipping. Had it been my error - you bet! But their repeated error and a previous promise? No way!
They finally agreed that it was their problem and because there had been so many errors and wrong sizes sent that they would send Fed Ex with a collection package to get the wrong ones - and told me I'd be responsible if I wasn't home to take care of this when Fed Ex arrived (although they couldn't give me a date or time.) Well, one month later I called them again and told them no one had ever come (they lost it in their system again) and that it was no longer my problem to wait for them. I suggested they send Fed Ex collection by 4 days later or I would donate the items to charity. After another threat that I'd be financially responsible - I laughed and told them I'd dispute it and get an attorney as I had all the documentation. I donated them to charity and never saw the Fed Ex man for that package (although I saw him regularly for other stuff.)
Needless to say, they don't get much business from me anymore...ugh!!! That's too much work for 2 footy pajamas for infants!

Shawna I definitely have to agree. What an amazing change it made when Disney no longer owned the stores. I will still work for them though, because they are still called cm's and get the all important discounts!
