Max - okay, I thought Max was Goofy's nephew. BUT, in the Sing Along Songs Mickey's Christmas Songs, Max calls Goofy his dad.
So, when did Goofy get married and to whom?

I guess you guys haven't seen A Goofy Movie? Max is Goofy's son. In the show, he's in junior high already so it never says where the mom is. Also, there's another Goofy movie where Max goes off to college. There's a short Christmas cartoon where Max is doubting Santa Clause and Goofy tries to prove he's real. Max has been around for awhile but it has never been explained how he got here. Maybe Tink will know! Or Mr. Stork! LOL

I haven't seen a Goofy Movie in years, that's right though! So why is he a nephew in some and son in others???

Inbred?

With all the missing teeth, we KNOW that it's an inbreeding problem...lol...
lol You are forgetting one thing. They are dogs. lol
Yeah, I know Goofy did get married, but I actually think that happened on Goof Troop, a TV show. I had not seen it, so am not sure.
Max is definitely his son though.

Yes, but not 100% dog - Pluto is a real dog, Goofy is half dog half...I dunno
I have something that tells why Goofy can talk and Pluto can't. If I find it, I will let you know!

Inbreeding?
Goofy is clearly West Virginian.

These days there are tons of kids who, for whatever reason, have Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, Grandpas, Sisters, Brothers, etc... as their "Mom" and/or "Dad."
Mom and Dad are someone who love and care for you with unconditional love. And those are not necessarily always the same people who gave birth to you.
Yes Lisa, that is becoming more common recently, and it is great that those children have others to love them and be their parents when their own can't!
And welcome to the DML message boards!

Or unfortunately WON'T!
Lisa - don't take us too seriously, this is just a silly thread to have fun with!

I think in one of the Goofy movies (the one where Max goes off to college) Goofy does say something about he wishes max's mom was still there to see it......i'm guessing she's dead, most of Disney's character's have dead parents, Nemo, Simba, Bambi, Dumbo....wait, the stork brought him!! LOL
And yeah, actually, I think in the Goof Troop cartoons Goofy was married (been so long since I've seen that show though).

Oh wow! What's up with this? Anyone know if Walt Disney had troubles with his mother or if his mother died at a young age? Just out of curiosity? Wondering since there's a bit of a pattern!!!

Belle's mom is missing as well......And the daddy cat to the Aristocats....and Mowgli's parents were killed.......Aladdin doesn't have any parents and Jasmin's mom is gone.....Cinderella, well both her parents are gone! Snow White, her mom is gone, Pocohantas' mom is gone as well (at least I don't remember seeing her mom).....Mulan had both parents though, AND a grandma!!:D
Kinda makes you wonder, is it Disney killing off the parents or when the original stories were written (for some of the classics) did the people back in the day just die easily? I'm sure some of the mom's are believed to have died at childbirth. That would explain why so many (Snow White, Cinderella, Belle) were only children.

Well, I thought I was going to die in childbirth! At one point I wanted to! lol....no wonder! It really is interesting, maybe that's just what they came up with for drama and that's the only thing they thought would make for a sad life for the characters!

This is the one thing that really bothers me about almost all Disney movies, why does a parent have to die? And usually in a violent way? (Finding Nemo, Lion King, etc.) My son is almost 4 and LOVES finding Nemo, but he still has never seen the opening scene, I always skip that chapter on the dvd. He has asked before where Nemo's mom was, and I just told him I didn't know. To which he replied, "Maybe she's at work!"

I did make the mistake of watching Nemo for the first time with my son and was shock with the opening. Now till this day we always skip that part because he always asks to. I think it was a little to realistic.

I think they add a fear for kids to think about that they shouldn't HAVE to think about. We have enough fears and I'll take the dark and loud sounds over death anyday! lol...
