Has anyone on the forum been to Legoland? We just ended up with an xtra day in S. California because Delta changed our flights in Feb - and we thought we might try this park Miss G is 5, and it looks like the rides are just about her speed. Can anyone give me scoop on best days to go, rides not to miss, how long you need in the park, etc?

Thanks for any replies!

Anna

Thanks Sharon - any more specifics about why your family loves Legoland? How long do you spend there? What rides are NOT to miss?

Sorry I was so tired that day!
We love Legoland because the rides are rollercosters are made for youger kids so they really have a great time. There were only 2 or 3 rides I think that were too big for Jonathan when he was 4. He's 5 now. The food is actully really good in the park. They have the most amazing Lego city to look at. They did New York, San Francisco, D.C. and so much more. It'll take an hour to look at all of that alone. Also, they have a boat ride that takes you on another side of that city and they tell you more about it like the Big Ben clock that was bulit. It's amazing. There is a childrend play area with water fun and a little playground too.
Best of all...no characters. LOL! Characters freak out my son so Legoland is a nice safe place to go.
Hope that helped and wasn't too late.

Just be sure to check their schedule before you go. Last time we looked, Legoland wasn't open everyday, like Disneyland and other theme parks.

Here is their schedule -- <A href="http://www.legoland.com/Plan-your-visit/hours.htm">http://www.legoland.com/Plan-your-visit/hours.htm
I remember we wanted to go before we moved out of CA, but they were closed the only days we could go, so we never made it there. :( Looks like a fun place.

I didn't even think of the fact that they have a really strange schedule. Thanks for posting that Rena.

We live pretty close to Legoland, so we had passes for a year. Haven't been in about 4 years though. My girls are short for their age and a lot of the rides go by height. Rose couln't go on a lot of them by herself even though she was perfectly capable. It's a really fun place, lots and lots to explore! Don't miss the "apple fries"! They have these huge play areas placed around the park. Lets the kiddies blow off some energy if you've been standing in lines all day. There's a trojan horse ride for the little ones. They get strapped on a horse and go teetering through the forest. That was a ride that Rose went on over and over!

That is a great description, thanks Jeni!!!!! More, more, more!

Ummm, let's see...did I mention the apple chips? Seriously, I've never seen them anywhere else before. Deep fried apple spears with vanilla whipped cream dipping sauce!!
Jeff went on the roller coaster rides with Rose and he had fun. There's a driving course that the kids get to actually drive on with no tracks or anything. It's hilarious to watch them! The boat rides are great. All of the miniture cities and landmarks made out of Legos are awesome!
There's a few big buildings where you can race lego cars and build stuff. We didn't really go in those. Too many die hard lego fanatics! We couldn't even get up close enough to see what they were doing. A lot of the rides are interactive. You can shoot water at each other or you have to pedal to make them go faster.
Shawna, we'll all have to go when you come to San Diego next year!
Oh, and all of the restrooms are co-ed. I loved that part! I don't have to take all three into a stall in the ladies room with me. :D

Wow! Thanks for all the great tips. We are going in Feb - so now we are set!
I did check the schedule - and no worries - we can work our schedule to be there on a day they are open.
It sounds just perfect for the 5 yr old age group.

I appreciate everyone's input!

At that time of year, you should be able to walk right onto the rides with no lines at all.
Hope you have lots of fun!!

We're on Shawna! Legoland always sends me special offers with discount coupons to try and get me to buy passes again. I'll have to hold onto them the next time so we can use them. I'll let you know if I get some.
There's a whole Midevil Land that the girls will absolutely LOVE! Lots of princess attire! Like I said, we haven't been there in so long, a lot of it will be new to us too.

Cool - San Diego is on the schedule for beach, zoo, and Legoland then!!! I really have been wanting to take Morgan to the beach forever! My girlfriend is there too and has a little boy, he'll be 2 in February, so Wil will have someone to play with as well! I can't wait!!!

We'll have to get to planning this soon. We've got to make our Disneyland stop and then hit San Diego, so we'll have to see how much San Diego stuff we can cram in too - lol... You're welcome to join us at Disneyland too if you want - hint, hint, hint!
There is also a restaurant in San Diego that has Cajun food that I am dying to go back to! It was incredible when we were there 2 years ago, I can't remember the name though!

Shawna -
You are too funny! It would be fun if we were going at the same time. We are kind of wistful about this trip and pulling out all the stops because it will be our last big Disneyland blowout before Miss G starts kindergarten.

After this trip - we're probably looking @ WDW in April 2008! (Sob.)

Anna--Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. We went to Legoland in March of 2005. It was a lot of fun. It is definitely doable in a day. If it is off season, you can walk on to almost all of the rides. The food is good and my daughter, who was 3 at the time, LOVED the dragon roller coaster and the princess purchases in the Knight's Kingdom section. It was hilarious watching her get her "driver's license." They've added some more water rides since I went there last. It should be a lot of fun for your daughter.
The rides at Legoland are very kid-friendly. They are almost all outdoor rides so if your child is afraid of the dark rides at DL she won't have a problem with these ones. Kids also get to manipulate quite a few of the rides which my daughter really enjoyed.
The lego creations are incredible to look at! I loved the boat ride that looked at different wonders of the world including Mt. Rushmore built out of legos!
