View Full Version : Favorite Disney Collectible
Thought I would ask if any of you have a favorite Disney collectible. I have been collecting for more than 20 years now, and my most favorite item is one I got from Ebay. It is an old Pirogie (not sure if that is spelled correctly) bowl with Mickey on a horse. It is made of silver and is in mint condition, without the box. I got this for a steal, so am very happy to have it among my collection.

Okay, I can't believe nobody has a Disney collectible! Thought I would bump this up in case nobody has seen the topic.

I have just started on my collection.....but I'm very excited about my Mickey Mouse Club snowglobe (The ears are the snowglobes) it lights up & plays the Mickey Mouse Club March
I also received the July 15, 1955 publication newspaper/brochure talking about Disneylands Grand Opening & pictures & paragraphs on what you would be seeing when you arrived at the park....its old & yellowed but really a neat piece of history especially since they're celebrating the 50th Anniversary !!!
Oh yeah, one more item I won tonite on Ebay.....a Backpack filled with 50th Anniversary treasures given out to the press on May 4, 2005: includes an embrodiered backpack of Tinkerbell flying over Sleeping Beauty's Castle & fireworks, 2 brochures, Kodak Easy Share Software & Ultima Photo Paper, 50th Anniversary Disney Catalog, 50th Anniversary Art & Collectibles Catalog, a 50th Anniversary napkin embossed in gold, Mickey Mouse rain poncho, and a limited edition Tinkerbell bottle of Coca-Cola (which is my other huge collection)
Oh Dreamer, I WANT that backpack. This is all your fault! I am now watching it on ebay.
And how fun to just be starting your collection. Mine contains 1000's of items, but it is a ton of fun when I go on purchasing 'binges' and add a lot of great new things to the collection.
For example, a trip to Disneyland is not complete without hitting the Crystal Store in New Orleans Square. I always purchase a crystal Mickey or Tink here. Last time, I really went all out and got a Svorski (yep, I know it is spelled wrong) crystal Mickey. It is less than 1 inch tall so hard to display out of Alex's reach and still see, but I manage.
This year, before the trip, I will have to peruse my crystal to make sure I don't duplicate. Last year, I didn't do that, and almost bought something I already had.

I know this is a REALLY OLD thread, but hey, I'm a newbie here. ;)
I don't collect tons on Disney, but I do have some stuff, being that I grew up so close to DL and went there a lot. My ILs are totally into Disney stuff. I guess my MIL is my oldest Disney collectible -- LOL! She went on opening day in 1955.
I do have a little ceramic Tigger, Oliver & Cheshire Cat that I have in my cat collection. :)
I bet your 'oldest' collectible has some great stories to share with you! The memories she must have of how Disney was before Disneyland!

She was there on opening day in 1955 and then again in 2005. I think she made the cover of the LA Times. She was one "speck" of thousands, but for some reason, we could spot her out. LOL -- she totally loves Disney & DL. It carries over to us too, since most of the gifts we get from her are Disney related. I have Winnie-The-Pooh dishes & silverware -- LOL!
Does she need another Daughter? lol Disney gifts are my favorite gifts of all time!

I'm like Rena. My "oldest" collectible would have to be my mom. She wasn't here on opening day, but she was there in '57 and we took her back with us in 2002 and 2003, which were the first times she had been there since then. I also had an aunt who's husband was in the navy and I believe he was stationed in San Diego in the 60's so another aunt went to visit and they took her to DL. I loved seeing the old home movies of that trip. I remember the first time we went in 2001 and walking around thinking, "I remember that from Auntie's home movies..." LOL. While I don't have a lot of collectibles, we did get gold mouse ears for the 50th anniversary the last time we were there that we put away. We also have a lot of pins and I got a 50th anniversary Christmas ornament from Ebay.

Yep, those and the home movies that we've taken there. Also the kids each have one of those Autograph books that they've had the characters sign. Those and the charished memories.....like Kia's face (who's 11 now) when she was 6 and Ariel waved at her from her float in the parade or Connor (who's 9 now and Autistic) who at the age of 4, insisted on getting Capt Hook's autograph but hid behind me when it was our turn to have his book signed, or when Baylee (who's 6 now) was 1 and Minnie was wildly gesturing to the soda kiosk and finally took a piece of paper and a pen to write to go to the kiosk to get ice chips for Baylee cuz she was afraid that it was too hot outside for her. So yeah, thinking back I have to say that my most cherished collectibles are all my Disneyland memories. LOL.
