Does anyone have any idea where you can by the child lease harness that look like a plush animal backpack and the leash is like a tail from the backpack to keep child from wandering off. We have seen them on tv and the news but have no idea where to find one. Thanks.

I think that we have decided against this. We were worried about DD taking off in a crowd but she is normally pretty good about holding hands when needed.

Do you have just one child splash? Should be okay, just be clear on who is the top in charge of watch for each moment.
If anyone knows where these are though, please go ahead and post a link, I know many others who'd love to get one.

I am mixed about this subject. My husband and I used to think they was like a dog lease, sorry but it does kinda look like you are walking your child. But the first time we went to DW we realized why some people use them. You can so easily lose your child if you was to get separated. So if you want to use them great if not great. Does Toys R Us carry them?

What I found out online is that they are available at Target. They are made by eddie bauer and come in two forms. monkey buddy 2-in-1 backpack harness which is a backpack and has a monkey tail leash that you can attach to it. the other is the puppy buddy harness that can hold a few small toys. I think they sell for around $14 but there is a global shortage due to popularity.
We didn't use the harness, but we did get a dogtag made up with our cell phone numbers and trey's info...put it through his belt loop or on his sneaker laces every day...when we got to the first park, we introduced him to a CM and explained to Trey that anyone with one of those tags could help him if mommy and daddy got lost....

The heart shaped dog tags are awesome!!! Totally recommend those. I used to not like the leash/harness thing, but having a 2 year old who thinks she's big, I think it's a wonderful thing...lol!
We saw several moms and dads with them on our last trip and the kids thought they were pretty cool. There was an 8 year old girl and 7 year old girl and they REALLY enjoyed theirs!

You know kids can get so mixed up so easy with everything going on around them. I know we was all going on Dumbo and we took off for the line and started through it when we realized Trey didn't come with us. We stopped and looked outside the line and he was turning circles yelling for mom and dad next to Dumbo. He couldn't find the entrance. So buy the leash it isn't such a bad idea. We will probably be buying the dog tag that is a really good idea.

Kristi - the dog tag is a fabulous idea and not JUST for Disney stuff - it's great EVERYWHERE you go shopping!

This is something I think I am going to get and put on their shoelaces.
And for harnesses, try <A href="http://www.babiesrus.com">www.babiesrus.com to see if they have them.
I did purchase one for Alex before our first trip. It has never been used.
This last trip we were concerned because he was much more of a wanderer, but he did fine, as did we keeping an eye on him, and he never wandered far. There was one point when I couldn't find him and I was turning around in a panic looking for him, and someone started laughing. My little boy was right behind me the whole time, turning around with me. lol

I got one at our local Wal-mart. It was the puppy dog backpack. We used it with makenna in DL because she was only 20 months and we also had her 4 year old sister to watch. We didn't use it much but we used it in the airport when she refused to ride in the stroller. We tried it a couple times in DL but she was good at listening and staying with us when she wasn't in the stroller so we took it off. We were glad we had it with us just in case.
Now my 4 yr old is the one we lost inside the Redwood Creek Challenge play area. That was horrifying but kids move so fast we lost track of which way she went. She called down to us from the top of something she'd climbed but for a second I was panicked!

Since Babies R Us sells through Amazon anyway, click the Help Support this Site link above and search on Amazon.

we got ours at target. we paid 10.00 for it. Isaac does ok with it...and he needs the pack forsensory input, so even if we don't use the "leash" part, we always use the pack. It slows him down and focuses him.
also, I LOVE the dog tag idea. I think we may need to make a set of those!
that's just a super idea.

They're great for lacing through the shoes and better than writing on your kid or putting personal info on a t-shirt so all to see (which I don't worry about so much, but some moms do have concern over.)
i got Trey's tag at PetSmart....there is a website that has tags specifically designed for shoelaces, but they are SO expensive...that is why I did the dogtag. I felt SO much better when my inlaws had Trey without us that he had on that tag, JUST in case!

Just curious what if they wear shoes that don't have shoelaces where do you place them on the shoes then? I really don't think my would want to wear a necklace with it.

We have that same thing - we do velcro. Since they have a slightly bendable metal ring along with it you can fit it through the velcro buckle insert parts.

its and old post but I have one of those and I had to "adapt" it for 18M cause it was too short and he kept falling. I added 18" of canvas belt to it and he has about 3 feet of freedom. But neither of us mind now, I've used this at 2 amusement park visits so far and they work like... well magic.
