Share with us here your favorite memories for a non Disney vacation.
I will start. Last year, we took Alex to San Diego. Andy and I had not been to the beach in years. Alex was no yet 2 years old, and loved water, so we figured he would have a blast.
He loved the ocean. We would hold him so a wave couldn't take him away, and let him stand in the shallow water. He thought it was so fun to 'jump' the waves. He thought it was so weird to have the undertow pull the sand out from underneath him.
Knowing that we won't be going to a beach this year, that is a memory that I will have for a long time!
What are your favorite memories?

2003, following my oldest sons graduation from high school, my mother-in-law treated our whole family (of 5 at the time), Mikes next oldest brother, his girlfriend & her daughter & Mike's oldest brothers daughter (who also graduated that year) to a 2 week vacation to Hawaii !!! 10 of us total on this trip. We spent the first week on Oahu in Waikiki. Mike & I renewed our vows on the beach by a Hawaiian Minister. The minister & his wife sang us the Hawaiian Wedding Song......it was very emotional for Mike & I to be doing this with our 3 boys by our side & the other family members there as witnesses. We both cried as we spoke our vows.....I think after 19 years of marriage they meant more then they did the first trip down the aisle together. The second week we spent on the Big Island. The Hawaiian people are so gracious & giving. Its a trip I know none of us will ever forget !!!
**by the way; the note of 5 at the time is because our family is at 6 now as we are finalizing the adoption of Anthony, 4 yrs old (he would have joined us on this trip if his bio mom had given permission, but out of state travel has to be ok'd by the parent of foster children.....really sucks he wasn't there & I'm glad that will never happen again)

Great memory! I have never been to Hawaii, but it is a dream of mine. Now, we have a family member that owns a condo there. When Alex is a few years older, we will take advantage of that.

Well, since Sarah was born, (she is 5) we have been to Hawaii 3 times! The first was when she was 6 months old - one of our best friends was getting married and Jim's boss' wife gave us first class points so we went to Maui for a week - wonderful!

In the meantime, we had already booked our friends condo in Kuaui for the following July ( yes the whole month)so off we went there when she was 15 months old - it was awesome... what a treat to have such a long time and just truly relax

We also went back to Maui in January of 2004 for my 35th birthday... Phil was 6 months at the time. It is a great place to take kids.... lots of beach and warm weather...

I think it has to be my favourite spot in the world I have been to so far..
