Is Sleeping Beauty out on DVD? I remember doing a search at one time for it and came across it somewhere (or so I thought), but I noticed Amazon doesn't have it and they usually have everything.

Hi Reese - it's not currently been released again from Disney. You CAN find it on Amazon but the price is about $48. You should, however, go to this site and click the yes on "if you would like Disney to release this on DVD in the future..." <A href="http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/moviefinder/products/2975503.html">http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/moviefinder/products/2975503.html
Then they'll know that consumers want it. I clicked yes too!

It seems like it was released last Christmas. I know I purchased it on DVD then.

The platnium double disc edition was released Oct '05....and now it's back in the vault. Try ebay....or maybe scout out Blockbuster or Hollywood Video and see if they've got extra copies they're selling.

Thanks Danette - I vote for waiting for re-release, the prices when they're "in the vault" are ridiculous!

vault prices are insane.
FYI- Bambi and Lady and the tramp are going back in at the end of the month...
The one movie that I'm dying for an official release of is Song of the South. I've got a copied version that I got on Ebay, but I so want them to release it fully. Most kids don't know the Brer rabbit story, and Splash mountain makes very little sense without that knowledge. I had a kid in my log at one point ask me how I knew the "how do you do" song so well.

We just found this dvd a few weeks ago at EB Games. They sell used dvds. It was only about $12. If you really want it now I would call around to places that sell used dvd's.

Thanks Kirsten! Totally appreciate that! They must not have known what it was worth! Unless it was VHS?

I have one nice thing to say about VHS - at least little tiny fingers didn't get them all goopy and make it hard to play them!
Laura - I would also love a Song of the South release, but don't think it will ever happen. I feel totally fortunate that I was able to see it with my family as a child.

Oh, I know -- me too! I think it's odd that Disney has "Splash Mountain" to that movie, but most people even don't know what the ride is even about. My SIL has a copy of SOOS that she bought on PAL when she lived in Norway.

I just saw a "Sleeping Beauty" DVD listed on Amazon for $14.95, so you might want to keep an eye out for them. I'd love for this one to be released again. We only have it on VHS and it's my favourite Disney movie of all time.

Be careful buying DVD from e-bay. Even if they say they are located in the U.S. doesnt mean they won't ship from Malasia, china or elsewhere. If they say that they are shipped without hard case, beware. It usually means that it is a pirated copy. I learned the hard way. I ordered a copy of little mermaid before it was rereleased and it said that it was coming from the usa. What I got was a non working pirated copy shipped from Malaysia. The photos were grainy and an obvious poor copy.

Do not know if Song of the South will ever be released again as it is considered too politically incorrect. Too many people deciding what we can watch.

Totally agree Splash - you have to be careful about Ebay and you have to be careful about 3rd party sellers on Amazon. I've had very few problems on Amazon - even with 3rd party sellers - but those have been where they are! Amazon has been fantastic about taking care of me though too. I've strangely been very lucky with Ebay too - but I've always sent messages to the party I was going to deal with to see what they were like and feel them out.
Not sure how long ago your pirated video was purchased but if it was through Amazon, you can still be taken care of. Ebay should have something similar because it was pirated and misrepresented - plus you have the ability to put a dispute claim with your credit card company to reverse the charge. ALWAYS do that but you must do it promptly!
I'm not so sure it's people deciding what we can and can't see on Song of the South - I think it's companies scared to death that they'll be boycotted by groups and attacked politically for things like that. I also think it's silly, but...they don't listen to me either...lol...
