So I have been watching my extra features on my 4 disc edition of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and decided to look up online to see if they've got plans for the next Narnia book, and they're going to begin filming Feb 12!!! YAY!! I don't know when it's suppose to be released, all it says is 2008 so we'll see. I'm so glad they decided to continue on with the series!!

Fantastic! Haven't gotten to watch the movie yet, but I am really looking forward to it. I remember reading and watching something when I was a kid and that was the most magical story!
I read the whole series as a child. I have the single disc copy of Narnia, but have not watched it yet.
Danette - is it too scary for a young one?

Umm, some parts may be, theres a scene when the wolves are chasing them (a couple scenes actually) and the Stone Table scene would probably be scary for a little one (a lot of scary creatures, etc.) I don't think the scenes are so much the scary parts, it mainly some of the creatures. I would watch it first before you let Alex watch it. I think my nieces and nephew watched it but I don't know if it scared them or not.
Thanks Danette - Andy and I will give that a try!

I love those books so much! I don't want to see any of the movies. I walked in on my husband when he was watching. It was the scene where Aslan dies. I bawled my eyes out! I won't let Celeste watch it until she's much older. She cried during Babe when the border collie gets tied up. She's very sensitive to animals in movies.
Amazing how much an animal dying hurts, isn't it. I have not seen Old Yeller but one time. I own it, but refuse to watch, and no way am I letting Alex watch it.
Heartbreaking in Colorado right now - the southeastern plains, where we are losing cattle in huge numbers due to the blizzard. It just breaks my heart!

I still remember my dad making me watch Old Yeller - "it's a great story about a dog" - I love dogs, so I sat down to watch!
I do NOT own it, I will NOT own it, and I refuse to let my child or anyone else in my house watch it. It's a great movie but no way!!!

Narnia is great. As a lover of the books The movie lived up to my expectations. There are some extreme scenes. The battle at the end is fantastic but very intense. My DD wants to watch it because of the lion on the cover but I'm not sure she is ready at 4. I can't wait to share it with her but for her I think it is a couple of years away.
Prince Caspian is going to be great. I can't remember if it is a summer 2008 release or a end of 2008 release, will have to look it up. I know of noone yet that I know that loves the books that has not loved the movie.

I think I read those books at around 7 or 8 and that was a great age to really understand it all. I think I'd probably wait to read it first and then watch.

THe problem with making books into movies is the movie usually has to leave out a lot of details from the book to get the movie in a watchable time frame. (Harry Potter movies are a great example of that!) But because Narnia is a short book-they didn't leave anything out!!! It was very well done! My daughters are too young for it too though and i would like to read the book to them before we watch the movie together.
