More new website feedback

With the new website forum members will be able to log into the website and have access to some advanced features such as vacation tickers.This poll is to help me determine where to put the login information on the main website.
I'm down to 2 choices... to the right of the logo or its own line under the main menu.
Like the forums if you check the 'always stay logged in' flag the website will always recognize you when you are browsing through it.
Since none of the links will work in this demo I provided 2 links for each version... 1 where you are not logged in and one where you are logged in with a ticker setup.

Either are really great. However, I think Version 2 layout looks more uniform and professional. Still, I'm great with either if the majority rules otherwise!

I like version 1 a little better because when you are logged in and the words are to the right, they stand out more. In version 2, I think they are too close to all of the words above it. I don't know if you could put more space between the lines or make the login font bigger but both versions will work. I really like the Disney trip countdown. How awesome is that?

Okay, I looked again. I really like both versions and I would choose version 2 IF the font were a little bigger or there was more space because then it would stand out more. Otherwise I think I still like version 1 because it fits there nicely.
I'm a little indecisive sometimes!!!LOL

I like version one better....BUT
Version 1 would take away from good ad space. If we are not going to put ads there then that would be my choice.
If you want to put ads there, I choose version 2. (and I will not vote yet until I talk to you)

The biggest problem with version 1 is that there is little room for the ticker text.
In general the ticker text would be something like: '3 months 15 days until Tink and Family go to Disneyland'
With the text next to the logo there is not room for much more then '50 days until xxx'.
If I can make version 2 a little nicer looking I'll probably go with that for now... it's pretty easy to change back and forth. Maybe when the new site is working I'll try both ways for several weeks at a time and then people can make a better choice.
Also... 99% of the people on the website will not yet be members... I want it obvious that they can register for the website (and therefore the forums)

Okay I made my vote, and while it has issues, I do like the look of number 2 better.
If number one can be seperated more, as Katie said, then that would be perfect I think!
One thing we discussed last night, but I will say it for the benefit of everyone else.
I do not want the ticker to be lower on the page. People should not have to scroll to see it, and it should be on every page. It is exciting to see how many days you have until your trip.

Version 2 appears cleaner with the headings.
I think there may be too many links on that left hand side...they all seem to run together...any way to do some headings to ease scanability?

Sue - yep we agree about too many links. That info was in his first upgrade poll. We are working on it - but boy is a slow process.
And Elaine has been wonderful about sending ideas too!
