What does everyone think of these Disney songs covers? Ashley Tisdale and some other girl band did Kiss the Girl, the Jonas Bros did Poor Unfortunate Souls, Jump 5 did Beauty and the Beast. I know there's more but I'm too tired to list them. I admit, these people are talented, but it sometimes feels like Disney is just trying to get these young artists to sing these songs just to make extra moolah.
Just a thought, my brain hurts now:D

I wonder if maybe they are trying to update the songs with today's twist on the songs. I prefer to have the original's but you know Disney. Anything to make a dime.

Yeah, we have an entire CD of remakes with all the young artists. When I purchased it online it said nothing about that, just the songs and I thought - oh how nice for Morgan to learn these songs! Well, she still knows BOTH versions but I am very disappointed!

I heard that Ashley girl's cover of "Kiss The Girl". I wanted to say this for awhile now, I thought it was awful. But, I'm not the target audience.

They are all awful compared to the originals. The new ones are good, but these songs were all so good to begin with that they didn't need remakes to destroy them!

I really dont like the No Secrets version of Kiss the Girl, it was annoying and just bleh! Their verision makes Ashley Tisdale's version sound like a masterpeice:hehe:
Most of the covers are good depending on how you look at them, but they can never beat the original and I don't know why they even try.

We has Peter Andre do kiss the girl? i think he done the original though? his video had the movie in the background! Him and his wife, Jordan done a cover of 'a whole new world!' that was bad!!!

I think Peter Andre did the "soundtrack" version kinda like what Celine Dion did with Beauty and the Beast. I didn't like his version either, Sebastion the crab is the original to me:D
Oh, another cover I don't like: Part of That World by Skye Sweetnam(or whatever) she sings it all whiney and punkish. And not even true punk...poser punk!

I rarely like remakes. Well, unless of course, it's of a super popular song and about a hundred people remake it and I can make a playlist of that song. :D But for the most part, I don't think most remakes are ever better than the originals.

Sebastian was the PERFECT version! Can't be outdone! I haven't heard the other group do it, Ashley's isn't bad, but it's just not anywhere close to the original! What were their managers thinking???
One I actually do like is Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's A Whole New World. It's nicely done. I don't care for them, but I like the voices.

I havent heard Nick and Jessica's version yet, I thnk I'll check that out. Their both very talented people so I'm guess it was ...okay?:P

Yeah, it was great! Honestly their voices really do the song justice!

I do like the originals better also, and Nick and Jessica's Whole New World is one of the remakes that I don't dislike!! Colleen is very into Aladdin right now, we watch the movie at least once a week.

Oh don't get me started!!!! I can't stand it when they have the young talent remake the songs. I think they need to come up some original music. If I were Phil Collins, I'd really be insulted. The man is a legend; you don't remake his music. It's just not right. :w00t:

I know Tigger - I wish I could send a copy of this CD of ours to all of you. I want to scream when I listen to the songs...but at least the short one here likes it!

LOL I don't think my son would put up with him. I've influenced him with 80s music. LOL :D He's a huge Queen fan and he likes U2, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, etc. He also really likes the original soundtracks to Lion King, Tarzan, etc. Oh and he LOVES the Cars soundtrack! I need to buy it for him on CD. Of course, some of those songs are not the original artists either. Which reminds me, I promised him that I would download "Life is a Highway" from iTunes. :hehe:

LOL That is very cool! Interestingly enough, I've actually had people think it was strange that I like 80s music. They told me that they had pegged me for a country music girl. :w00t: My hubby gave me a Sirrius car radio for Christmas and I LOVE it because of the 80s stations!

Oh I know, we've got XM and we listen to Playhouse Disney in the a.m. and sometimes other times as well. But yes, I go for the 80's and 90's when Morgan's not in the car or not listening. Or sometimes when I just can't stand any more Radio Disney! lol...

LOL My son likes the Kids Stuff station and Radio Disney. I'm ready to go nuts! ;) He asked me to find "Life is a Highway" so I went on iTunes and downloaded it for him yesterday. Although I have to admit that I didn't download the Cars version; I'm sorry but Rascal Flatts doesn't sing it like Tom Cochrane. :hehe:

One "remake" I really did love - Elton John - when he did Candle in the Wind and then changed it to Goodbye English Rose. That brought a tear...still does when I hear it! I certainly remember that night, we were at dinner and it was the talk of the restaurant - in fact the waitresses turned every t.v. in the place to the news coverage and it was a country-type steak restaurant.

I have to agree - not much of the remakes are any good. Give me the original any day!

I love originals as well and it has to be the ones from the cartoons!
I don't understand Ashley Tisdale's music video that goes with the song. It's a little silly and not really what the song is about at all.

I have not seen the video you are mentioning Katie - but I did hear the song yesterday (or has she done more than one?). I didn't think it was horrible, but still like the original better.
Disney has such a wonderful, creative song writing team. So why not just write new songs for these new singers Disney has on contract? Why not make us fall in love with new Disney music??

Yah I agree. I'd like to hear some new stuff instead of remakes. :) Shawna, I don't think that Elton John's Candle in the Wind remake completely counts because he remade it himself and both versions are excellent. Someone else didn't take the music and change the words. He has some awesome Disney music too. I was disappointed that he decided to work with Dreamworks on Road to El Dorado because I have issues with Dreamworks and the other copycat animation film companies that try to compete with Disney. But that's an entirely different subject.... :w00t:

Is it Dreamworks that did Shrek? I have to say, I have loved those 2 movies and the way they were done. But yep, I am a Disney girl at heart. Other than those, just give me Disney.

Yes, Dreamworks did Shrek. Personally, I thought the animation was well done but it's not my kind of humor. And I don't think that it's appropriate for younger children. But that is the good thing about the non-Disney animation films; their target audience is different than Disney's. My son likes the Ice Age movies and Over the Hedge. Both were decent movies but I prefer Disney as well. :D
