Do you consider must haves? I just want to see how many of the "must haves" I actually have and which ones I need to get!

I would say some of the classics like Cinderella, Fox and the Hound, Little Mermaid,& Robin Hood are must haves that my children love. They also love the Pixar/Disney films like Nemo & The Incredibles

I don't have Robin Hood yet, and I plan on getting Peter Pan when it comes out.

Beauty And The Beast
The Fox And The Hound
Aladdin
Cinderella
The Jungle Book

Jungle Book is another one I don't own but I think they're coming out with a 40th edition of that so I'm gonna wait a bit and see. Only one Disney movie? Even a lot of my real life movies are Disney!! LOL Don't feel weird, part of my Disney collection is my movies (that is how I justify having probably close to $1,000 worth of just my Disney movies!) so I probably have more than most people.

I forgot about Peter Pan. We have alot of VHS tapes in the "Classic" version that I am trying to get converted to DVD's but I hate to get rid of the original versions. Mary Poppins is one we recently bought.
Speaking of Disney has anyone heard of Eloise? Kyan is in love with the Eloise movies at the store and Disney made 2 versions of the show with real actors but it is the animated Eloise that she loves and I am in need of finding some DVD's so we can return the rented ones. Any suggestions?

I don't think I own any live-action Disney movies either. I'm going to get kicked off this board. :P
I'm suprised nobody said "Snow White". I didn't like it too much but, if you are going to do movies that are essential to a collection I would think it would be. Just because of the history of it. As I am thinking now, I could say the same thing for "Fantasia"

Aren't they all??? lol...
Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast, Mary Poppins, Parent Trap (the original), Pollyanna, 101 Dalmations, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story, Lion King, Dumbo, Pete's Dragon, Pinocchio, Bambi, & Lady & the Tramp - I think that's all!

I think anyone with kids really trusts and enjoys just about every Disney movie. They're so great for families. I can't really think of any I wouldn't get.
Fantasia is a good one, I forgot about that! And how could I forget the Halloweentown movies - my fav!!!

Kristi-I saw an animated Eloise DVD at Wal-Mart the other day.
I think ALL of the Pixar movies are a must have. All of the princess movies AND Mulan. Pretty much everyone has mentioned all of the must haves in one thread or another but I would also add the ARISTOCATS and the most recent one my girls are in love with is THE SWORD IN THE STONE.

Katie - we have all the other stuff on VHS too. (Thanks for the card and stickers - much loved!) Anyway, any of the princess or other stuff I've replaced with DVD is up for grabs. Bryan even told me to tell you since you guys will use them! Even he wants them to go to kids who will use them!

I have a ton of Disney movies and in my opinion, they are ALL must-haves! :D I started collecting them before I got married- all on VHS. Then we had to start collecting DVDs. We have too many to mention. But we have all the Pixar movies, Aladdin series, Lion King series, Beauty and the Beast, the Hunderd Acre Wood movies, Mary Poppins, Homeward Bound series, The Santa Clause series, Jungle Book 1 and 2, The Little Mermaid, the live action Jungle Book, The Emperor's New Groove and Kronk's New Groove, The Pirates movies, Tarzan, I can't think of the rest right now. There are a few movies I refuse to get because I didn't like them- Pocahontas, Chicken Little, and Home on the Range. I thought they were horrible. I still have some movies I need to get; the Stitch movies are a must-have for me! :D

Okay - we HAVE Hunchback of Notre Dame but I have never watched this one - anyone? What is it like???

Shawna--Can you pm me a list of the movies you have on VHS? We have quite a few but there are some classics like Bambi and Dumbo we don't have on VHS or DVD.
Huncback of Notre Dame--What can I say about this one? I saw it when I was in high school and I loved it. I especially loved the soundtrack--it has some awesome songs like "God help the outcasts".
But, I don't really let my girls watch it at their age because it has some very adult themes (like the church guy lusting after the gypsy girl and going to he**). On the other hand, it shows the importance of kindness towards others even if they look different. There are some funny parts and, again, great songs.
I really don't think Morgan would take an interest in it yet (I don't even think Makenna has watched it) but you might enjoy it and Morgan may like it when she is quite a bit older.
I would recommend it for an older child/preteen maybe. Of course this is just my opinion and maybe other children and their parents don't read that much into it. Everyone's different!

Katie - if you want them Bambi and Dumbo are both yours - let me know. I'll get together a list of them ASAP and get them to you.

Shawna, I didn't really like Hunchback, I wasn't too happy with the whole lusting over the gypsy scene and felt it was very inappropriate for a children's movie. For most of the part 2's and 3's on things (Tarzan II, Cinderella II, Little Mermaid II, etc.) I didn't care for, they were done quickly and poorely and I just didn't enjoy many of them too much. Don't get me wrong, there are a few of the sequels I like, but as a rule I don't like them so that part of my collection is limited.

Wow-you have both of those Shawna? Of course we'll take 'em! PM me when you get a chance!

Shawna (2/8/2007)[hr]Okay - we HAVE Hunchback of Notre Dame but I have never watched this one - anyone? What is it like???
I feel that this movie was pretty well done, but it should've been rated PG if it wasn't and I don't think it was. I agree that there was some adult subject-type content in it. It was kind of dark and I didn't like the lusting thing either. They really portrayed the bad guy as evil, in my opinion, and I thought that was too heavy for a Disney animated movie. But for its time, the artistry and animation was really good. It's not a movie that I feel I need to own; seeing it a couple of times was enough for me.

Thanks, I know I don't have to replace that one on DVD (although I'm a sucker for Disney stuff so I probably will...)
Katie - I'll save those for you. I will try to get a list done for you in the next week.

Okay I just watched Monsters Inc with Kyan this afternoon and she was crying when Sully said good-bye to Boo. Has anyone's child acted this way. She is only 3 and it just blew me away.

Yes my son acted that way when he was 3 about some things. Also, to this day he still does not like Monsters Inc. He didn't like the monsters scaring the kids. He's sensitive about some things and he's always been an empathetic child. I think it's sweet that your little girl was crying; I think empathy is important for kids to have. :)

Oh that is so sweet!!!! Morgan shows empathy sometimes but hasn't at everything just yet.

I am just not to fond of the movie. It just seems a little off to me. I am not sure what it is but Kyan is now obessed with this movie and demands to watch it. She definately goes through her phases with movies. First it was Little Mermaid, them Mary Poppins, & now this one. Maybe I can convince her to watch something different instead.

You know I have always loved monsters and I'm trying to install that in Morgan too - that monsters are cool not scary... That's the reason I personally like the movie, BUT I'm certain the movie has lots of things to scare children and it surprised me.

I think it has just a little too many scary scenes and I really don't want to start any nightmares with Kyan. But so far so good with those the movie hasn't affected her yet.
