Just wondering if anyone knows exactly what this means....
WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
We were looking at this very cool Captain Hook light up ship for Phil and there is also a really neat castle... but they have this above posted warning...
Thanks

I'm not sure. All I know is that I have stuff that had that label on it and from reasearch I've done on other cancer causeing stuff (like saccharine or however it's spelled) it takes an unbelievable amount of whatever that chemical is to actually cause cancer. Californina is just a weird state like that, all health minded and stuff. I seriously wouldn't worry about it, unless you're planning on trying to ingest it????:w00t:

Thanks... Jim was wondering if you would have to lick it or something.... just curious as to what specific chemical it is... then you could read the research on your own and make a decision...

I would guess you would have to eat a lot of it. CA has really gone overboard on these type of warnings which IMO distracts from real warnings.

Thanks Angel and Goofy... not being American I wasn't sure what it all meant... think we may wait and see what we can find at DL in Dec.... but good to know the warnings might be a bit over the top..
And what Goofy didn't know is that we own one of those lamps with a warning. It is definitely not a problem. The two things you want to be careful about? Don't eat the lamp. Don't put in a higher wattage bulb than the lamp can take. I actually believe that is the bigger concern. These are low wattage lamps, use them that way and they are perfectly safe.

I knew I came to this forum looking for info, and I always find what I am looking for.
I sure as heck won't eat any more lamps now! hehehehe
