I am currently gathering items for the kids for the trips on the plane.

What kinds of things do you guys take to entretain the little ones on the planes?

So far I have bought:

Sarah: a little spirograph thingy from the dollar store, a couple of new books - Disney of course, some little plastic animals

Phillip: some little hot wheels cars, some plastic animals

I am also looking for some fun little activity books ( like the invisible ink ones or sticker books, etc) I think I will pick up some Poly pockets for Sarah as well.. although I saw some neat little princess sets that I might have to spring for.

We will bring the personal DVD player for Sarah... and I am hoping Phil will sleep a good chunk since it will be during his nap time on the way there and his bed time on the way home. We will also bring Jim's gameboy to entretain us... possibly Sarah ( she still hasn't figured out the thumb stuff)

Carole,
Do you have a Kohl's or a Target? At Kohls, you can purchase Wiggles Travel Packs. They are plastic cases that hold crayons, paper, stickers things like that. We will surprise Alex with those on this trip.
At Target, in the Book section, you will find an amazing selection of items packaged for travel. While I have not seen any of this stuff in the Disney section, I will, on occasion actually buy something non Disney . I know, it is rare, but it is for the good of my son. lol
The Hot Wheels may also be a good idea for Alex. Depends on how far he wants to 'drive' them.
If you want Disney stickers, check this out: http://birthdaydirect.com/cgi-bin/cart/cart?cart=Search&keyword=mickey&Search.x=15&Search .y=8
I bought that kit for Alex last year. I have broken into it a few times, but figure it will be awesome on the airplane. You probably still have time to order and get it before you leave if you would like that.

Before I realized how sick poor Alex was, I dragged him to Target today. Got a few new items for the airplane. One is a magnetic ABC book. The pages are steel so the letters will stick to them. I thought Alex would have fun with that. These are made by Klutz and called Chicken Socks Magnetic A to Z if you are interested.
The other item I bought him are twisty crayons. Alex loves to peel the paper off crayons then deliberately break them, then say 'broken' and he won't use them after that. Well, these have no paper to peel, and nothing to break, so maybe he can actually color for a change? lol
