I remember my mom buying me a Tinkerbell t-shirt at DL when I was 4 1/2:) (1967). It was on a very plain white background, Tink was flying, and at the end of her wand was a rhinestone. Back then anything sparkly on clothing was quite the novelty. I loved that shirt.
Any other early memories? :)

I have a stuffed Figment from when I was 4 ( or 5) so that would have been in 1981 (1982). I loved the ride and character and was so shocked when we went back with Trey for the first time and rode the ride. Boy the memories came flooding back.

I bought some tiny Mickey and Minnie characters in a rubber/plastic type of material when we visited the first time. I was around 8 years old I think? Also a couple cheap pins - those were plastic too. My mom still had them and now Morgan plays with them.

I remember the plastic/rubber characters. I don't think I've seen them for a very long time. I also remember the real cool baloons that were Mickey shaped and had another clear Mickey shaped baloon on the outside. I don't think they have those anymore either.

Elaine - they had the ballon inside the balloons when we were there in October. Strangely we didn't see any balloon vendors this past trip until Friday night - weird eh?

I just remembered that I got Disney records from DL with pictures on them that I really liked.

I have a set of those plastic/rubber characters - but I didn't get them from Disneyland. I actually think mine are Disneykins.
Before I got married, I had 1 trip to Disneyland. I purchased Mickey Mouse. He was almost 4 feet tall - and I still have him! He looks pretty much nothing like the plush Disney has now, and is a collectible himself.
While I got Disney items growing up, since I didn't go to Disneyland until 1982 I never got anything official. I am lucky though - my whole extended family knows my love of Disney so I always get the Disney items when we lose a loved one. I have an incredible stash from Disney's early days that I got from the extended family!
Okay, I guess in a roundabout way, I did answer the question. My first Disney Souvenier was the Mickey Mouse. He is now almost 25 years old!

When I was 12 (we went to DL when I was 4, 11, 12) I sooo badly wanted to wear earings but didn't have pierced ears. So I bought clip ons at DL; Winney the Pooh, Mickey and Donald. Oh, they were so painful. Six months later I got to have my ears pierced. You don't see clip ons anymore! That form of torture had gone the way of the dodo bird. :D

Oh man Elaine, I remember clip-ons, those were just horrible!!!! What were they thinking???
Leanne - I think you and I might have visited DL for the first time in the same year. I'm going to have to ask my dad to be certain but I believe it is!

Oh yes, the dreaded clip-on earrings. I think I wore them once! And they are the reason I have not let the holes in my ears close. I do like to wear nice earrings when I dress up. lol
Shawna - that would be so funny if we were both there for our first time at the same time. lol

My most precious DL momento is a Minnie Mouse coin purse. I got her when I was four (1977). When you press the center, she sweeks. My grandma bought her for me and put a ten dollar bill inside. My grandma explained that ladies don't just wad their money in their pockets. Ladies have coin purses. (She also said ladies don't wear open toed shoes..go figure.)

Thanks, I am really hoping that I can find one for my little Molly girl when we go (in only 15 days....OMG!) She is such a little lady I think that my grandma's lady gene, must have skip me and went right into my daughter.

That is a cute story Cat! I think I actually have that coin purse (ebay), along with some ear rings and a necklace that all came in the same auction. If it is the one I have, it is adorable!

I have been resisting trying to ebay find it. I really want her to have it from Disneyland. They probably have some thing like it now. It is a Minnie Mouse face with her bow and the zipper is at the top od the head/bow.

Cat - I sure hope they have something like that at Disneyland now! There is so much Minnie stuff that if they don't have exactly that, there should be something similar.
Good luck!

Well, to be honest, they don't have a lot of stuff like that but they do have a little. Since we're always searching for Minnie stuff (with our little fanatic here), we've found that there's not enough! Check the princess section, I'm sure we saw some things in there.

Molly is definately in love in Minnie. I think it must be the M at the beginnig of their names. She likes her some princesses, but Minnie is the #1 Disney character for Miss M.

Alex loves Minnie too! That is probably the biggest reason we have so much Minnie merchandise to sell. lol
The Minnie purses we have are adorable, and Alex helped pick them out. lol

Okay then - mid section at World of Disney has the best clothes in the park. There are also some princess chocolates Morgan fell in love with and will do anything for one of those! They had Minnie ones too. There were some Minnie sunglasses there - along with hats - really cute sets. In the princess section there are light coats/jackets - various colors with diamonds on the zipper - Morgan picked out a Minnie one of those and they are great! There were some Minnie shoes as well but those were close to the hats. World of Disney had the best Minnie selection, the stores on Main Street have some things but not as much.

I was at Disney World for the first time back in the 70's - yep some of you weren't even born! My mom and dad bought me a stuffed Pluto doll. I still have it and still love it. Went back to Disney a year ago with our son and his first memory will be of the BIG Mickey sorcerer hat that he asked for our first day there. We made him wait (how many other things would he see, want??) until the last day and he STILL just wanted the Mickey hat. Great dust collector.

Disney5

Yeah, but I bet HE remembers it when he's older just like you - and the rest of us!!!

Tink

I know which hat you are speaking of, and frankly, I must admit, I have always wanted one for myself. lol
When he is no longer interested in seeing it every day - store it in a box to keep the dust away. It will be something he can treasure forever.
We have not found that 'one' thing for Alex yet that he will have for the rest of his life and he has been to Disneyland several times. Fortunately - we do have many things that will one day be his. The Partner's Statue I picked up last trip is one of his favorites. I am sure he will love it forever - and one day, it will be his to share with his family.

Trey absolutely had to have these pair of Stitch tennis shoes that was Epcot. But we made him wait come the last day he still wanted just these shoes. Needless to say after looking all over for them at Magic Kingdom and World of Disney we had to go back to Epcot that day just for the shoes. It was the only place to buy them.
