hi. I wanted to know if any of you have seen the new harmony kingdom boxes out yet...are there any new ones worth looking at?
TinkTink, welcome to the boards!
I have seen the Harmony Kingdom boxes, but not any new ones. Do you collect them? They look so wonderful, but they are not something I have collected :(

Hi Leanne --
finally, somoene on the boards taht knows about the HK boxes! I don't have many because they can be a bit expensive and delicate looking...but i did see one the other night at downtown disney nearr ESPN zone for Mowgli. It was cute. Nothing I would want personally but its nice.
Do you know if these are really worth getting into for collectiing?

My rule for collecting is don't buy it unless it's something YOU are really interested in. That way if the market goes up or down, you will never be disappointed.
Have you checked ebay to see if they are a hot item?
I know what they are simply because I wanted some of the originals. Instead I decided on the other little jewelry boxes - the music box ones. I have the Tink box and love it.
If it is a Disney collectible - I either own it, wanted it at one time, or can tell you about it! You would die if you saw my whole collection. lol
And yes - I agree with Shawna - only buy it to collect if you like it! There is not an item in my extensive collection that I don't like.

Oh and TinkTink - join us on the Disneyland portion of our boards! You would love it over there where you can talk all about Disneyland too!
And I am always willing to talk merchandise!

Okay, you got me totally curious, so I checked ebay. Some of those boxes have actually sold for over $200! on ebay. Others are around 50, and some are under 20.
It depends on which box it is.
So - my thoughts. If you like it - get it! But do me a favor. If you are going to display it, be sure to keep the box! Getting rid of the box will immediately decrease its value if you do decide to sell later.

Don't trust ebay though for market valuations and expectations. Remember beanie babies??? You must be very careful of ebay and internet auction shopping. If you really want to know, call a professional appraiser and ask for their opinions of purchasing as an investment.
Yep, good point. I made a Disney collectibles purchase on ebay. Paid less than 100 for it. Called a local Disney appraiser to see if I made a mistake. In this case, no I didn't. It is worth $1400. So, while ebay can give you some ideas if it is worth it to buy, it can't always be used as a good determining factor.
TinkTink - when you get back, let me know if you have any collectors books. If you don't, I do - and not all are strictly Disney. Who knows, the Harmony Kingdom boxes may be in other books since Disney is not the only company that makes them.
