I have mentioned in other posts my classroom theme is pirates. I am trying to convince my principal that a field trip to see Pirates 3 is worthwhile. So far he's not having any of it. I think as a last resort I'll push for an evening fieldtrip.

I haven't seen the trailer yet! I hope I see it soon!
Cat - what grade do you teach?

World History. So I have 10th, 11th, and 12th (15-18 year old). I taught Spanish for the last 8 years, but this year I switched. (I was all about Nemo last year)
My theme has been "Plundering our way through Hisotry". I realize having a theme seems a bit elementary, but the students really like it. It makes them feel like whatever we do is going to be fun. I have almost no displine problems and everyone is passing. (I really am a hard teacher as far as how much knowledge you must have to pass) Anyway, I have a ton of Pirates of the Caribbean poster on the wall and a bunch of stuff I picked up at Disneyworld this summer. For Christmas the students found a picture machine that let you put your picture into a POC frame. Thus making you look like you are in the POC poster. They made me one for Christmas.
I even have a 6 foot tall talking pirate. the kids all think I bought it from the POC Ride before the remodel. (I really got it at Wal-Mart.)

For some reason I thought you taught the little ones (and no, it has nothing to do with your themes). I love the idea of a Pirate theme for that age group. Anything to make them more interested in coming to class. And for that age, it sounds perfectly reasonable to do a Movie field trip!

I wish my principal felt that way. I think we will do an unofficial field trip. The night it premieres. The theater is very close to the school, so we can just go after school. I did the same thing with The 300. it worked out pretty well.

That would be great - and probably a lot of parents would love to go as well!
