"Sound of Music" was the first thing that popped into my head, but favorite Disney musical live is "Mary Poppins" and animated is probably "Beauty and the Beast".

Well Shawna, that explains why we got along so well when we met. Same musical movie tastes. lol

Boy, when the Denver theatre group gets under way that might be a fun girl thing to do together!

Ummm I don't do musical theater anymore. Every time I do, something bad happens.
Lets see, once when going to a show - Chorus Line I think, I got fired the day of the show.
Once when going to a show we were late and parked at a Burger King. Came out, car was towed.
Get my point? lol

Yup, I sure do! I actually threw out an outfit (a very expensive one at that) several years ago because every time I wore it (only 3 times) something really horrible happened.

I climbed out of the Wiggles board just to answer this question:D
Moulin Rouge is my favourite musical movie. It was pretty cool how they used popular songs for their soundtrack.

You are so right, I hadn't even thought of that one! Love that music! Nicole Kidman did a phenomenal job!

Totally, Nicole Kidman was awesome but Ewan McGregor just blew me away with his voice!

It was amazing, I couldn't believe my ears! I thought the movie was going to be a mistake, but, boy, I'm surprised it isn't STILL making waves!

I forgot about that one as well, maybe because it is so sad.

I actually forgot about it being sad, but you're right Tink! I just remembered the music and the hilarious parts. I had to stop and think about it for a minute!!!

I'd have to say Sound of Music, too. At our wedding, we had the wedding march played from the wedding scene. Although, we didn't have the How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria part in there. :)

I've always enjoyed "The King & I" -- it has some awesome music in it.
There are lots of good ones. Is "Wizard of Oz" considered a musical? It has some great music too. The Who's "Tommy" is another one. "Grease" is always a favourite. Rick & I saw a theatrical version of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" last year and it was done up in a way almost as good as the movie. Great music too! I need to get a copy of "The Music Man" sometime. I love some of the songs in that one too.
I remember seeing "South Pacific" in the theater when I was little. It was pretty cold outside and I was just amazed at washing the lady "wash that man right out of her hair" in the freezing cold -- LOL!

Oh, great. Well thanks, Shawna. :) Okay, our wedding wasn't so corny as that, though. Maybe :D Now every time you see that scene you're gonna think of me, aren't ya???

Lol Reese - yes! And every time I see your User Name, I'll sing the song...lol!!!
No, seriously, one of my favorite movies! I also LOVE My Fair Lady. I love the King and I - I got to be Anna many years ago for a play.

I am going to have to go with Grease. This is a movie I loved as a child and still do as an adult. Maybe because it came out the year I was born.

Annie/Grease/Westside Story

Disney5

Lol! I got Annie for Morgan last night at the store. I remember some of the kids I used to babysit just loving it and having to watch it so many times I thought I'd be sick! She's a little too young for it still but I anticipate that she'll love it in time!

Tink

I love Annie too - the original - not the Disney version.
Same with Parent Trap - the original not the remake.
But I have to say, yes, I am an old lady, but I do love High School Musical!

Is anyone watching the show on Sunday nights "You're the one that I want" trying to find the new leads for Grease. I just love Austin that is in the running.

I watched it once and couldn't stand it. lol Not sure why though. :)

High School Musical!! haha

Disney5

Good one Sara!
Leanne - that's just because for us you can't possibly top Olivia Newton-John in that role. It will never be the same.

Tink
03-04-2007, 08:32 AM
Yep, that is probably true. I have seen Grease so many times, and so love it I just can't imagine it being with different people.

I think most of us over 30 will feel that way for a long time...

Grease is a hard one to recast since the movie. Olivia newton john will always be the benchmark for Sandy. John Travolta will always be Danny. My question is how John secada was ever chosen to play Danny on broadway.
