I just wanted to reiterate what a great movie this is.
DD4 and I had the pleasure of seeing this movie today with Leanne/Tink and her DS4.
We saw the 3-D version. First of all, the movie is visually beautiful even without the 3-D effect. Unlike the Disney park attractions, the 3-D effect was obviously there but not so much so as to become a distraction. It was more of an enhancement rather then a gimmick. You were definitely drawn into the movie, but the effect never kept you from focussing on the story. Disney totally got this right.
The story line was very good. I'm thinking this may be one of my favorite Disney films. It works on many different levels. I'm sure my dd4 didn't really get the story line, but she enjoyed the action and main characters.
This was so enjoyable that I'm even entertaining the idea of seeing it one more time while it is in the theaters. This is something I haven't done in like 20+ years.
I heard it was good as well Elaine. I'm hoping to see it with my little cousin soon.
By the way, what/who is DD4?:hehe:

I am so glad you loved it. This is going to be a classic and it has such a great ending. And props to Disney for showing that they could make a good one outside of pixar (pixar rocks though:D )and a great tribute to the man himself. I am still amazed at the rain scenes, I was totally waiting to get wet.

Keith,
you are so right about the ending. I think this is the best ending I've seen in a long time.
Sara, dd4 is my girl Linnea.....you can see her here. <A href="http://www.lfsh.com/wdw2007/index.html">http://www.lfsh.com/wdw2007/index.html

Sara - you'll also see DH and DW - husband and wife. I just call mine Bryan - lol...
Love your review Elaine, wow, I wish we were able to do movies but we just can sit through them yet. But I'm sure looking forward to seeing this one!!!
Thanks Shawna. Im excited to see it as well. But probably when it comes out on dvd, I only want to pay for movies that I really want to see.:hehe:
Elaine - I have totally agree with you on all of your comments.
And like you - we will also be going to see it again - again in 3-D. Alex really wants daddy to see it, and he has consented to go.
So - whoever sees it the second time first - let us know about the glasses! If we bring our own, do we get a discount the second time? lol

Leanne, I was wondering about the glasses too. If I had know they were going I would have sent ours with the wife and had her see if they could use them and not pay another $2 for new glasses.

We went to see the movie on Friday; not the 3D version though. The only thing I have to say about it is, it was wonderfully weird. I had my moments of, this is really weird, but cute, but fun but WEIRD... By the end it was wonderfully weird. LOL :D I think it's a winner for all ages.

Well, maybe if I can find a matinee around here we'll try it. However, I have serious doubts about our ability to sit...lol...

what they won't sit through at home, they may sit through at a theater. Isaac's mr. distractable...but just loved the movie. the screen is sooo big and the room is dark, so it's interesting for them. the only time he moved was to get some reese's peices from me! LOL!

I totally agree with Kileigh. I took DD4 to her first movie when she was two'ish. At our local theater they would show (during the summer) direct to video movies for $5.00/kids $0.00/adults. We saw a My Little Ponies double feature. It was excruciating. I will never do it again. From now on I will pay more $$ and go see things that I too would like to see.

I could NEVER sit through a Ponies video....and Care Bears is just as bad....20 minutes is tops for me on those...
lol Alex loves the Care Bears - in fact, he is watching them now. lol
We are going to see this again tomorrow. I will take our glasses, and leave them in the car. If they give us a discount, I will go get them. I can't seem to get anyone on the phone (recordings is all they do) to answer that question.
So, I will let everyone know tomorrow if they gave us a discount!

Leanne, did you get to use the glasses again? I was wondering about that because I'm thinking I would go see it again in the theaters too! We're also going to take ours to the Disney parks for their 3D shows because the glasses in the parks hurt my head! :crying: They fit funny and the back of them dig in to the side of my head. Plus I never really liked the idea of using glasses everyone else had been touching! LOL
Sorry I didn't get back sooner - busy weekend.
No - they do not give a discount if you use your glasses again, so we just paid and got new ones.
We went on Saturday and there was a major glitch. After the NBC trailer, the screen went dead. After a few minutes it came back, and it was the movie. No cartoon. No Walt Disney emblem.
After the movie, I went and complained, and low and behold, we got free tickets to see ANY movie.
So - we went back Sunday to see it again and things were working properly. Alex was thrilled to see the Big Walt Disney (wonderful in 3-D with the fireworks) and the cartoon.
So - we have now seen the movie 3 times, paid for it twice. I absolutely love this film and highly recommend it! I am sad because I know we won't pay to see it again, and hope that it comes out on DVD in 3-D and has the cartoon and big Walt Disney. It was wonderful to see!

Oh Leanne! I'm so happy to hear it was good the second time too (or I should say third time). Sometimes movies loose a little of their magic the second time. I think we will go sometime next week to an early show. Glen is taking some time off and I'd like to go when it's not so crowded. When you, I and the kids went it was perfect!
Good info about the glasses! Now I won't even bother to take mine. I'm sure it'll come out in 3-D. I was looking at DVD's the other day and saw several that were 3-D. However, it simply won't be quite the same on a TV.
Oh yes Elaine - it was great each time. And watch next time - you may just catch a few hidden Mickey's!
I totally love this movie. Because of this, my expectations have lowered for Ratatoulle - even though it is Pixar. I will have to wait and see if it can be this good.

Isn't it great to hear that a movie made by Disney is uping the expectations for the next pixar movie. I hope that they have learned with this one. Everyone that I know that has seen it has loved it. I also love the Casle and fireworks in 3D at the beginning.
Leanne, how did Alex do with the trailer for Nightmare before christmas in 3D?
Glad to hear such good reviews...was going to take Trey this past weekend, but with everything going on with the dog, we just didn't make it...instead, it was a spongebob squarepants marathon (I think I developed a tic...I swear...). John has a match this weekend on Saturday, so we will go then.
Oh Keith - he so badly wants to see that movie now! He has seen the original several times, and you know from my talking about it that Holiday Haunted Mansion was one of his favorite rides in December. He was so thrilled to see the Pumpkin come out of the screen. There is no way on earth we will skip that movie this October! Of course, his love of the ride made me a lover of the movie (it wasn't a big hit with me before), so we all want to see it, and October can't come quickly enough!
And yes, while I am anxiously awaiting the next Pixar film, I just can't imagine it is as good as this one in 3-D.
Sue - if you can do it in 3-D, definitely do!
The Castle and Fireworks alone is worth the cost of the tickets!
Leanne
