View Full Version : Cars
So, how many are taking your children to see this movie? Alex saw the Disney 411 on it, and was cracking up. He now has many of the cars to play with, and is in love with Lightning McQueen. lol
I will be taking him to his very first movie the Tuesday after it comes out. I sure hope he enjoys it!

Well, seeing as we're going camping this weekend we're going to miss opening day. I'm actually okay with that 'cause I'm sure it's going to be PACKED!! My little brother isn't too happy but I think the idea of going camping (and not in a RV either!! LOL) is starting to sound "pretty cool"! I can't wait to see it though!
Cool, I will let you know how it is after we see it. Alex is totally enthralled with Cars right now. Of course, it helps that they are 'cars' which he loves anyway.
We went shopping for new shoes today, and ended up with Hot Wheel shoes (nothing else came in his size) and a pair of Cars shoes in the next size up. He also HAD to have the Cars sandals. lol

That is so cute (the shoe thing!) I'm eagerly looking forward to this movie because of Bonnie Hunt, she cracks me up. We need more of her in every movie.

We went and saw this Friday night, it was really good!! You have to stay until the end credits are done though!! I mean completely done! There's a bit more to the movie!! :D We really enjoyed it, Larry the Cable Guy was hilarious! And Owen Wilson did a good job playing McQueen.
Yes, I have to agree it was awesome and definitely stay until the credits are done. Typical Disney/Pixar fashion, the movie is not over when credits begin to role.
The movie was a bit long, but our theater was empty so it was okay. About 30 minutes before it opened, Alex got tired of sitting and started kind of playing around in his seat and standing up. He did continue watching the movie, and I have to say he loved it. He talks about it all the time.
Great for kids and adults.

I really like how it talked about Route 66, I've been on that highway many times (it and I-40 run together for the most part) and if you've ever seen Elizabethtown when he (my boyfriend!! :D ) makes his cross country trip he stops at a round barn (Oklahoma) on Route 66....That round barn sits about 20 min from my Grandparents house and a long time ago they were going to tear it down and my dad took me, my sister, our brother, and our 2 step-sisters and we each got to put a dollar into the donation box to save the barn and my dad told us we can always say we own a piece of that barn! It was crazy to see it in a movie!! :w00t:
What a great story, thanks so much for sharing! Yep, I bet you enjoyed it.
Route 66 has been so well-known forever so yes, it was fun to see it in the movie. I really enjoyed it. I think it was the first movie in a long time I didn't look at my watch to see how much longer it was (until Alex started moving around anyway).
I can't wait until it comes out on DVD. We can only hope for Christmas. lol

I can't believe the people at Pixar can get a 3 year old to sit through an entire move..BRAVO. This was a great one!

I think we will wait until it hits video. My daughter wanted to go see it but we have not had the chance to go when there was all the hype.

It's out on DVD -- TODAY! :D
Today is my son's 7th birthday and we're going to get him this movie in a bit. He's also having a CARS themed party, but just a small one here at home, since we just moved.
I realize some of these threads are quite old, but I'm new here -- :P
Rena, welcome to the boards! We love when people go back to old topics!
I picked up Cars for Alex today. He is thrilled as that was his first movie in a theater and he is very excited to watch tonight with Daddy on the 'big tv' (as compared to his small DVD player. lol). As for myself, I can't wait to see it again either.

My husband and 11 month old are downstairs watching it now! I don't hear any fussing from her so she must be watching it.

Always a good idea Andrea - you can always pick up the prev. viewed ones at places like Blockbuster for much less as well if anyone wants to save a little.
If I thought I could have gotten away with that, I would have waited too. lol
Just like I could not put Pirates on my wish list because I HAVE to have it when it comes out. lol
And just like the Mickey Croc's - trying to decide if they can wait till Christmas, or if I should have them for our trip. lol

If you go to the Disney store and preorder, you get a Jack Sparrow poster. Oh yeah! (I wonder what Andy will say when I try to hang it in the bedroom. lol)

Well, there's a whole bunch of Jack Sparrow costume stuff at DL - maybe you can get him (you) some when you go and he'll dress up for you. lol...
We don't even have time to watch movies anymore, so I know I can wait...
One of they guys I know dressed as Jack Sparrow for the Halloween Party. It was incredible. In real life he looks nothing like him, but dressed as him he looked so much like him it was incredible. lol

I saw Cars for sale at Target $15.99 I believe, and you got a free pin with purchase. Just so you know for any pins collectors out there!

I absolutely love Cars!!!!! I saw it in theaters once, then we borrowed it from a friend and watched it about twenty times!!!!! I just bought the soundtrack a couple days ago, and it hasn't left my CD player yet!!!!!!!
Emerald - Alex is also still in love with Cars, and watches it quite often. He also really loves Mater's Ghostlight. lol

Trey loves Mater and the Ghost light. He actually watches it more than the movie.

Ah yes, Mater and the Ghost Light. We took Cars on a road trip that was about 2 hours long so we thought it would be a perfect movie to watch ONCE during the drive. We (Scott and I) ended up listening to Mater and the Ghost Light a zillion times instead!!! And Corinne laughed every single time like she hadn't just watched it for the hundreth time!!
She's like that with all of the Pixar shorts though. She just loves them and watches them over and over

we haven't been able to watch Mater and the Ghostlight. Isaac demands "Cars!!"
he LOVES the movie, and he just sits and stares at it. He actually came to me yesterday and said "ka-chow!" and "bump draft"
wacko kid.

Corinne was writing the number 95 all over some paper one day and I asked her why. She said it was Lightning McQueen's #!
