When is everyone planning to go? I'm trying to work out a movie swap with my family so that my hubby and I can go. We can't take our son because it's too scary and violent.BTW, my sister is going to El Capitan to see it! How unfair is that??? :P

That's what I was thinking, but I still hoping they might. They make great classroom incentives. You would be amazed to see what a 16 year old will do when there is a prize involved. :)
The money for our private screening is due tommow so we shall see howmany students I have going. I'm REALLY excited! I have encouraged the students to wear our official "Plundering Our way Though History" Shirts. Maybe we will make the paper....

Cool! I hope your class has a great time! Yah I don't know about the McDonald's toys either. But I got some POC stickers today that I'm going to take to work for my kids to use with collage work.
I also noticed that there's an article in Rolling Stone magazine with Johnny Depp. I don't like Rolling Stone magazine, but it was a neat article. :D

I can't wait either! I sure wish I could have attended the Premier at Disneyland over the weekend. Alas though, I will have to wait.
Elaine and I are planning on going and hopefully we can do that next week some time!

Yay! I bought our tickets on Fandango! We're going on Saturday. My dad and hubby are going first and then my mom and I are going to go. Then we have coverage for our son. I can't wait! :D

Yay Lisa - and you know you can register to see it at the El Capitan yourself, right? Saw that on the AP site!
You will have to let all of us know how it is!

Yah, Leanne, I know. The problem is getting over to Hollywood to go to the El Capitan. That would be a problem right now due to expense and childcare. Plus it would have to be an all day trip or an overnighter. My sister told me that there are AP showings at 3:00AM!! That is completely crazy! My sister is driving up from San Diego to go to a 10:00AM showing. :w00t: I think most of the showings are sold out by now. Anyway, I'm just happy we can make it down to Palm Springs to see the movie. (We live in a small town and don't have a decent theater.)

One day I would love to see a movie at the El Capitan! I don't think that will ever happen though, as we have no intentions of moving to California. lol
Your sister is going to have a great time Lisa!

Yah going to the El Capitan is truly an amzing experience. My sister and I went there to see Lilo and Stitch when it first came out. We just got the regular tickets; nothing fancy. But after the film, they had activities to do and things to see and a museum with Elvis stuff. Plus live music and dancing. It was so much fun. :D

I am taking Trey tonight. Is it suppose to be worse than the first 2? Graphics and language that is?

Well, I just got back from the 8:00 PM showing in Pittsburgh. Not a lot of audience applause at the end, but I enjoyed it.
First I will say that instead of 35mm film, the theatre I saw the movie in was DLP Digital. I can say, WOW.. I cannot believe how much different a movie looked!!
My initial thought was the first 30 mins were sort of boring, but I got very excited when I saw the ride reference (ie. a couple seconds of dark screen). Those that have seen it and know the ride at DL, will know what I am talking about. The other ride references involve knowing what the keys from the dog is for, and seeing the Redhead (we want the redhead!! (Actually whenever i ride the ride, I want the redhead!).
But the heart of the story, was interesting. 2hours 45 minutes is a little long for this story, and I was a little disappointed in Keith Richards (you hears so so much about him being in the movie, and he is only there for a couple minutes). The whole Calypso thing I could have done without (and I have no idea what the heck the Giant Calypso said??)..
So being a huge pirates (hey, I'm from Pittsburgh, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates) fan, I was happy to see the movie on opening night, and will certainly be interested in discussing this with other viewers!

I would think that it would be at least similar to the 2nd movie. I won't let my son see them. But they are all rated PG-13.

Just got back from the theatre and I know we missed 20 minutes of the movie from all the 2 times the movie projector screwed up.
I will give this spoiler stay for the complete end of the credits because there is a little more to the movie after the credits. Only 2 minutes of film if that but totally worth it. I was told to stay by the manager
I was disappointed with the Keith Richards parts and was totally lost at the very beginning of the film with all the hangings.

Kristi,
Thanks for the tip. I did not stay at the very end to see if anything else was in the movie. I guess I will have to see it again (planning to anyways with my sister). Did you like how the incorporated the ride. A very cheap special effect, but knowing the ride from DL, I absolutely loved it, and it's what finally brought me into the movie. Yes, the hangings at the start of the movie were gruesome (ie, the person singing on the barrel), and Jack Sparrow's hallucinations were so bizaar. I really think it's Jack is great when he's on screen, but this episode I was much more impressed with Geoffrey Rush (Barbosa). Also I liked how they gave Ragetti (the crewman with the fake eye) a bigger part. I knew it would take some time in the movie to get Jack back and introduce the other pirates, so the start of the movie has to tell many background stories.
As I said, I could have done without the whole Calypso thing. This provided some confusion to me (ok, I understand the link between Davey Jones and Calypso), but I think it just made the movie longer. Keith Richards, was as always unintelligable, but knowing the history of Jack Sparrow and the fact that this character was going to be in the movie, I thought it would have been used more in the movie.
With all the complaints, though, I really did like the movie. I will certainly see it again this weekend, and will certainly buy it when it is out on DVD. It probably isn't a movie for kids, but they do through enough stuff from the actual ride into this movie, and you will love the big special effect while they are searching for Jack!
So it leaves the frachinse with the ability to go a couple different ways. They could make some movies focusing on Barbosa. They could make some movies focusing on "Davey Jones" (if you see the movie, you'll know why I put that in quotes). Or they could make some movies focusing on Jack and his new map! I for one certainly hope they continue!!

It could also continue with Will & Elizabeth. The ending after the credits will show you why. I do think they will continue on.
Plus after you see the very ending tell me if you think someone looks familiar from the hangings.
I really can't wait for 7 more days until we are back at WDW to ride the new version of Pirates. And I loved how they incorporated some scenes from the ride. The dog was too cute and with Jack's dad. I wished they had included him more with trying to find Jack.
Jeffery Rush done a great job with his character and totally redeemed himself as a good guy in the movie. Was a bit disappointed in some of the character's deaths though.

Alright I just got back from my classes screening of POC:3. It was great. I had 57 students attend and some of them dressed as pirates. I missed the first few minutes trying to make sure everyone was there. But when I sat down and the title came up one of the kids yelled, "Yipeee Pirates!" (This has been a reoccuring anthem in my class)
Also, at one point in the film you hear the line "Dead Men Tale No Tales". The kids all smiled and looked to me. (I have a piggy bank that I got at DL, when you put money in it, it sayd "Dead Men Tale No Tales". The kids can put money in it to make it talk before class. I can't start class until its done. We then take the money and donate it to Heifer Project International. (You can only put in silver))
When it was over, we have lots of smiles and warm fishes, it was a GREAT class cohesiveness builder.
Also, the movie was awesome!

Cat,
I'm so glad to hear that you and your class had such a great time! :D Yah the part you're talking about was really cool. I'm very excited about going back to ride the ride and also see what they did with the island at DL.

Eeeek!! My friend and I went to the 11PM showing of P3 the night before it was "officially" released. LOVED IT!! However, I need to see it again, because I do need some clarification on some things. I'm also unsure how I feel about the ending. And I could've done without so much Elizabeth Swan - she was too much the focus of this movie for my liking.
Johnny Depp has said he loves the Captain Jack character and would do more. But Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom have both said they feel they've taken their characters as far as they'd like to. While I would miss Orlando's beautifulness (hello?! Get a load of him when they show him for the first time as Captain Turner on the Flying Dutchman!!) Captain Jack has really made the movies.
I recently watched P1 again, and remembered why I fell in love with the movie from the start.

Very cool! Where did you see him say that? Every interview I've watched with him over the past two years he's said he loves the character, but thinks it's run it's course. I'm glad to hear he may have said otherwise.
