We have decided unofficially to officially start planning on a 7 night, Western Caribbean cruise for Jan '10. Yeah I know, over a year away (heck, almost a full 2 years away!) but because we want a Cat 7 room (with a veranda) it's going to be more expensive.

I did find that pricing for Jan 09, Expedia beat everyone's prices by $400, that's like all the excursions right there, and then some! :w00t: Hopefully this time next year I'll be able to say, have, I've got my confirmation number!

On that note, we're planning on driving down and parking the car at Port Canaveral instead of flying. I actually would rather fly in and fly out, less stress on me but Jake said we need to save as much money as we can and so far driving looks like the best way to do that. Now, does anyone know how much it costs to park your car at the port? And what would ya'll do, drive or fly? Keep in mind we live about 9 hours from WDW, and PC is what, less than an hour away (of course in the opposite direction!) from WDW, right? So I'm guessing it'll be about 10 hours driving.

I'd fly. If you get the whole cruise package from them you get to board first. First, you fly in and they get your luggage and either transport it directly to the ship, or to your hotel if you go one night early. Then they get it from the hotel to the ship. You get to ride the bus care free. At the hotel you get to check in right there...beating the millions of others checking in. If you go that same day you still get to check in ahead of all the drivers. That means less of a line trying to board. It takes forever! It's like waiting in line for Finding Nemo! So if you fly in the day before (it only ended up being $30 extra for us) it's WAY easier! That said...my aunt has driven and parked and had no problems that way either (other than being in the really long line). Just make sure you really figure the gas money (and food) to do the 10 hour drive!!!!

When we went on a cruise for our honeymoon we flew. It is so much easier, you don't mess with luggage and all you have to do is board a bus to the boat.

See, I'm thinking less stress is worth the plane tickets! Not to mention if gas keeps going up then plane tickets will be just as cheap as driving, without the stress!

Is this a Disney cruise you are talking about?
Just curious. lol

Of course it's a Disney Cruise! LOL And now we're discussing the option of flying or possibly renting a car (with better gas milage!) so we can turn it in and not pay for parking at the Port. I'm gonna do my best to get him to fly though!

Yeah, you are close enough that a flight should not cost too much!
And silly me, I should have known, but I did want to clarify.
I still want to do a Disney Cruise as well, but it will be a few years. And I guess we should consider getting passports sooner or later ;)

FYI it took Guy and the kids 6 months to get their passports!

I figured on that much time. We don't need them anytime soon. I probably won't even do it until we start seriously talking about the cruise since there are other things we can spend the money on between now and then.

We had thought about a cruise this year and it was so high. Maybe in a couple years. Although Trey thinks in 3 years we are going to Australia, my aunt just got back from a trip there and he so wanted to go with her.

Australia is awesome! I want to go back soo bad!

And as for the passport, if I already had one (but it expired) would it take 6 months for me? I'll be traveling with a new name so how will that work?

I wish I could answer your passport question D - we are in the same thing here. Andy and I have old passports - mine was chewed up by a dog and I have no idea where either one is now - they are both expired. Alex has never had one, so I figured we would just all go do it together one day.
