Day 4 ? May 13th

Today was Epcot day. We started off eating breakfast at the hotel. Then we boarded the bus for Epcot. The globe is awesome! First off we went straight to <st1:City><st1:place>Mission: Space. We got a child swap for this ride. Brittany and I chose the orange team. This team is supposed to be intense. There are warnings everywhere about getting dizzy and disoriented. All the warnings made me nervous to ride! But it turned out just fine. The G forces are cool. Guy and Joshua went to The Land while we rode this. We met back up and got fast passes for Soarin. We met up with Mom and Dad and we all rode Living with the Land. This ride was very neat. They grow all kinds of fruits, veggies and fish. Then they use these to feed you at the restaurants. Very neat. We all rode Soarin and Test Track. Then we went over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends and rode Nemo. The end of this ride is actually a working aquarium with the Nemo video segments playing in it. As we watched them singing Big Blue World (which is a song from the Nemo musical at Animal Kingdom) a dolphin swam by doing tricks. It was so amazing!! After the ride we walked around looking at all the tanks of fish they have. Then we had lunch with the fishes at Coral Reef. After lunch we went and rode Journey into Imagination with Figment, What If Labs, Guy and <st1:State><st1:place>Brittany did their child swap for <st1:City><st1:place>Mission: Space while we took Joshua to the play place at the exit for the ride. Then we all did Universe of Energy with Ellen. By then it was time to head over to World Showcase for dinner. We ate dinner at Rose and Crown. I can see where this restaurant would be awesome if you can get seats to sit and watch Illuminations. Our seats would have been great for that show! But we ate at <st1:time Minute="0" Hour="17">5:00!

After dinner we all headed back to the hotel. Guy and the kids stayed behind and swam for hours, Dad slept, and Mom and I went back to Epcot to watch Illuminations. We started to walk around a bit but ended up finding a spot to sit between <st1:country-region><st1:place>Mexico and <st1:country-region><st1:place>Norway. I knew this spot would be a bad spot (both <st1:country-region><st1:place>Mexico and <st1:country-region><st1:place>Norway have been reported to be not so good) but we decided to settle in there in front of the Margarita cart!! After Illuminations we headed back to the hotel for bed.

Today the weather was HOT and HUMID. The best thing was watching Joshua on Soarin. The worst thing was that it was crowded today. The funniest was Joshua trying not to get his feet wet on Soarin and the face he made on Figment when it sprays the skunk smell. The most magical moment of the day was seeing the giant Epcot golf ball up close and all the cool topiaries for the Flower and Garden Festival. I?m glad I saved <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Magic <st1:PlaceType>Kingdom for the last park for us to see. The other parks are fun, but it?s lots of walking and not much riding. We didn?t even make a dent in seeing World Showcase or see and do everything Epcot has to offer.

So Mexico/Norway is a bad spot for Illuminations, correct? How did you like it? I'm dying to see it.

See we like seating between Mexico and Norway on the little walkway right next to the lake. We plant ourselves on the ground and break out the Uno cards.

What is the second picture of with the umbrellas?

Oh sorry! The umbrellas are the spot we sat at Rose and Crown. They lower the umbrellas for Illuminations. I was just trying to show how that would be a great spot if D can get it!!
Well, we sat down to watch Illuminations. Then when it started we were too low to see anything but there were people behind us sitting down and I felt bad if I were to stand up, so we stayed down. We couldn't see the Earth thing at all! We barely saw the water shooting up. All we could really see were the fireworks.
So..I was disappointed in it but I think it's just cause of where we sat. I was just with Mom. Guy and the kids were supposed to watch it with me later in the week but when it came time to do that they wanted to ride Soarin instead. So...we never saw it a second time.

Now I know for sure that Epcot is a 2 or 3 day park. lol You were there all day and didn't have much time to visit the World at all right? We have decided Andy will check it out before we arrive. Alex and I may skip it completely, saving it for next trip.
So the Orange Team is the more heavy duty team? I know I can't do that, and doubt that I could do the other one. I also am worried about Test Track. lol Having severe motion sickness breaks my heart since I can't go on these rides.

We were at Epcot twice and didn't see a ton!!! We did leave to go to the pool during the day too. You may be able to do most of it if you don't leave. But World Showcase is huge and has so much to see and do...it needs a day alone I think! I can't wait to go back and see it all in the daytime!!
The orange team is the "intense" team. Though it wasn't really intense for us. I was expecting to be twirled around or something. We weren't. But you do get G forces which can be hard on people.
The green team is not intense. Guy says you can still go on the green team with your motion sickness. If you can do Star Tours you will be totally fine on green team on Mission: Space. I think you'll be fine to try it! If Alex is tall enough, all 3 of you can ride together.

Leanne,
I think you'll be fine on Test Track and Mission Space (green team). Glen also gets motion sickness and he has no problem with those too. Truly Mission Space/green is less intense then Star Tours.
Glen did not do well on Expedition Everest, and he won't ride Star Tours either. The night scene (flying over LA) in Soarin also gets too him a little but he's learned to focus on his feet during that brief segment.
How many more days before you leave? I'm so anxious to hear about your trip!

Oh yeah, you'll be fine on Test Track. It's like riding in the car! Just that at the end you go really fast around the track..but it's quick.

Test Track is the fastest ride at WDW. Going 65 mph. I think you will be fine on it. My Uncle Tim that went with us gets motion sick on rides and did fine on Test Track and Green Mission Space. Green Mission Space is like a simulator nothing big, Trey went on that side.

Okay - so Glen gets sick on Star Tours, but did okay on Mission Space? I want to clarify that because I can only ride Star Tours ONCE. I only do that because it is usually our first ride each trip, and I won't skip the first ride.
And Mynde - riding in a car can make me sick. lol
I am actually going to ask my brother-in-law if I can wear 2 patches. lol

Guy says he has a problem with Star Tours at parts. He said Star Tours is way more intense than the green team on Mission: Space! The difference is that on M: S it's really close to you (you get to push a button at certain points of your 'trip') so there really isn't anything else to look at if you get queasy.
I guess Test Track is kind of jerky through the testing phases (sudden stops, swerving back and forth)....

Okay thanks - I will consider both. I know Alex will want to do test track, and if just the two of us I will do it with him so he doesn't have to miss it.
Mission Space on the other hand - not sure. lol
