Day 5 ? May 14th

<st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Magic <st1:PlaceType>Kingdom day! We had breakfast at the hotel and ended up at <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Magic <st1:PlaceType>Kingdom at <st1:time Minute="30" Hour="8">8:30. The park opened at 9. This was our only day of getting to the parks at opening. There were hula hoops out for the kids to play with. Joshua tried and tried and tried to hula hoop. It was the funniest thing I?ve ever seen! After trying his hardest a cast member came over and said ?I?ve been watching you do that since you started, you deserve a treat? and he gave him 50+ Mickey stickers (they passed out 2 stickers to kids here and there). So Joshua got dreamed. At opening they had the train pull up with all the characters on board. They all came off and sang and danced a little. Then we headed into the happiest place on earth. We went to Fantasyland first. We rode Dumbo, Small World, Peter Pan. Then we wandered down the path to <st1:Street><st1:address>Liberty Square. We rode <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Haunted <st1:PlaceType>Mansion. Then off to Frontierland for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, fast passes for <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Splash <st1:PlaceType>Mountain. Then off to Adventureland for Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the <st1:place>Caribbean and Swiss Family Treehouse. We headed back over to Fantasyland for lunch at Pinocchio?s Village Haus. Then we rode Small World again and watched Mickey?s Philharmagic. We loved it!!! I was the only one who smelled the wonderful cake-ish smell during Be Our Guest. Joshua was fun to watch with this one again. Then we went over and rode Snow White and got fast passes for Winnie the Pooh. We were surprised with ?Surprise Fast Passes? for Mickey?s Philharmagic. Too bad this ride was a walk on all day and we didn?t need them! It was still fun to get (and our only real dream-bummer). We rode Mad Tea Party and then Pooh. Then we headed over to Tomorrowland. We rode Astro Orbitor, Space Mountain (well, we got child swap and Guy rode Astro while we rode Space), Buzz Lightyear (where I won each of our 4 rides over the entire time?Guy kept saying ?my gun was broken? and then finally on the last round he was hoping he?d win with 191,000 but I smoked him with 252,000. Ha!), Monster?s Inc laugh floor, Indy Speedway, and Tomorrowland Transit Authority (about 4 times) (Joshua?s favorite) (he rode it backwards with his arms up each and every time. He thought it was so fun!). We then headed over to Toontown and did the Barnstormer (my first kiddie roller coaster), went on Donald?s Boat (lame), Mickey and Minnie?s house, and rode the Railroad back over to Frontierland. We rode <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Splash <st1:PlaceType>Mountain (and I got soaked?not from the splashes as I was anticipating?no..from shooting water from no where!). Then we watched the Parade. then back to the train to ride back over to Tomorrowland for dinner. We were talking to the conductor and he suggested we eat at Casey?s (hot dogs). He talked us into it and we got off at <st1:Street><st1:address>Main Street and ate there instead. We did a little shopping and rode a few of the rides again. The morning was very empty and we walked on for most rides. The afternoon was busy and we ended up only riding a few (TTA again a few more times). We watched the fireworks then headed back to the hotel for bed.

The weather today was warm. The best thing was being mini-dreamed twice. The worst thing was the bus ride back to the hotel after the fireworks. The line was WAY too long and we had to wait and wait to get on a bus. Then we were packed in so tight. Never take the bus right after an evening show! The funniest thing today was Joshua hula-hooping. The most magical moment was seeing the Castle?it?s very moving.

I love the pic of Joshua! He's so cute! So the bus lines were horrible then? We're really considering driving ourselves around WDW, but then I guess we'd have to wait to catch a bus to the parking garage.

No, the bus system works well...it's just really crowded right after shows. If you watch the fireworks, linger at the shops etc afterward so they thin out. I would do the bus instead of drive though! The parking lots always looked packed and you can either hike to your car or jam into a tram to get to your car....which is the same as a bus but then you have to wait in traffic to get out!! Really, the bus is ok!

Okay thanks! I actually just read your review of the bus system.:D I personally don't feel like driving but Jake doesn't like being crammed in, guess he'll just have to deal with it.

I am glad to hear J loved TTA - I am totally shocked Alex wants to ride that FIRST!
What did you think of Monster's Inc Laugh Floor? Did J like it?
What was the parade like? Is it worth finding a spot for? And where is a good location to see it.
So you never did Stitch's Great Escape?

Yes, J LOVED TTA! I have no idea why...but I didn't mind riding it over and over with him. It was fun to play games on it! At one point you go through Space Mountain and they speed the car up so it seems like you are on SM. We'd scream. It's fun to be fun! ;)
We did not do Stitch. We were told by my aunt that it was too intense for J so we just skipped it.
We loved Monser's Inc. J shouted and clapped and carried on when we were suposed to. It's a hoot! They pick people to play "parts" (one guy was supposed to be Sully...make a mean face etc) but the family they chose didn't speak English so it was hillarious to see them just waving and smiling..they had no idea what was going on..but the "monster" who was hosting that segment just kept picking on them ...they'd smile and he's say, no scary face, no no SCARY face...oh, alright we'll pretend that's scary. Then another guy had to keep getting up and dance. It's just really funny!

I forgot to answer you on the parade. We only watched the daytime one. I wouldn't waste your quick time at the Magic Kingdom to watch the parade. The one at DL is WAY better! The one at WDW is ok...If this were your only parade over the year to see, I'd say watch it..but since you get to watch DL's in October I say just skip it. The floats are totally different and the ones at DL are on a much larger scale. Same goes for the fireworks. They are fun to watch but the ones are DL are better. So if you need to take advantage of the rides at that time..do! If you had more time at WDW (you need at least 2 days for MK) then I'd say see it all! But since you don't.....don't! :)
If you do decide to sit and watch, we watched from near Splash Mountain. It was where the parade began. We sat on a fence but I saw there are also benches and outdoor tables across the street from there too. It was right near a bridge that goes over Splash Mountain...We got to see all the paused floats and dancing right there.

I just want to add that the day parade starts at Frontierland but the Spectromagic starts at the end of Main St in the hub.

Thanks so much for the info. Now I won't worry so much about it. Did you video tape it by any chance? If not, then I will have to watch. lol

Nope, sorry, I tried! The sun was at our faces so the video was just coming out black. A lot of my stills came out too dark too. Bummer! Oh, and I taped Nemo but it's not that great!!! If you get a chance to ride it you better tape it too! My camera couldn't focus in the dark too well so a bunch of it is just black....
