If everything goes as planned, we're going to book our cruise next month when the Jan 2010 dates are out! If we need to change the dates we have plenty of time, as well if something comes up and we need to cancel we'll be able to do that. I just want to lock in the lowest prices and typically the earlier you book the cheaper the rate. I'm really excited! Even more excited that I didn't even have to turn on the waterworks to get Jake to agree to it, just told him I thought it would be a good idea and he said okay! :w00t: I think he knows when to give in early. LOL

I'm still working on a list of questions to ask the CM about the cruise line and excursions, just haven't had time to call or anything yet.

Oh, D, Jake is learning fast! That's how married life works...what wifey wants, wifey gets. :)
You have to share as soon as you get your trip locked it. We'll all have to go check out your ship and what excursions you can pick from!!!

Yep, yep, yep! That's what I was thinking, getting some help planning what excursions we should do and all that jazz. I didn't even think about looking at where the stateroom would be or anything like that. Guess I'll keep you around for a little longer M! :P

Ha! Have you ever taken a cruise? When you pick your room you want to stay toward the middle of the ship. But watch out for where the elevators are. Don't get the room connected to the elevator shaft! It can be noisy. But the middle of the ship rocks the least (not that you really notice it at all on the large ships, but if you go around a storm it can be noticeable at night).
Yes, I will live vicariously through you and look at all your planning along the way. A Disney Cruise is my dream vacation!!!

D- I remember watching or reading about the cruises boats that they have some rooms that are cheaper but may have an obstructed view out the window. You may check into those rooms. I wish I could remember what the numbers were. I will have to check around to see if I can find out more info for you. When do you call?

Oh, and the inside rooms stink. They don't have clocks on cruise ships. So once you turn off the lights it's pitch black..which is nice to sleep...but if you wake up...you have no clue if it's day or night!! Very disorienting. Don't get me wrong...if it's all you can afford..DO IT!...but if you can afford the outside room...definitely DO THAT! :)

M, you forget I was in the navy for 6 years, Jake for 4, rocking ships don't bother us. Elevators, that would be annoying but nothing could ever, ever be as loud as planes taking off and landing above your head. Where I am on the ship doesn't matter to me (nor does not having any lights, but we want the balcony so we're getting an outside room) in relation to noise or to motion of the ship.

Oh yeah...DUH and that's a big DUH!! I even waved to your ship on Soarin!!! Duh! :Whistling:

LOL!! I was laughing so hard about your duh that Jake asked what was so funny. I got to the noise and rocking part and he was like, well I don't think we'll have a problem with that. I was like wait, you have to hear what I replied and what she said after that. He thought it was pretty funny too. Oh, and then he tells me that on the ship the machines that ran the elevators were in his berthing, he will have no problem sleeping through any type of elevator noise.

I can call on the first I believe.

Oh, cruises are SO much fun! You don't have to worry about sea sickness (not you Danette) cause the boats really don't rock (not enough for you to notice unless you are laying down and it's storming)! There is SO much to see and do just on the ship, let alone at port!!! Disney Cruise Line sounds AWESOME!!! I really will be living vicariously through Danette!! I'm anxious for you to book it so I can start planning what <[i]I </[i]would do!!! :)

LOL Mynde, here's a head start, we're doing a 7 night western caribbean cruise, we're going to do the romance package. I'm debating on whether or not we should do the couples massage in the open air cabana at Castaway Cay or one on the ship. Here's my reasoning, open air cabana is in the adult only section of Castaway Cay, this may be the only time we go without kids. On the ship we can put them in one of the kids clubs and get the couples massage but if we do it at CC then we'll have a harder time finding something for the kids to do. I'm leaning more towards open air cabanas because of that.

Now you have something to mull over for awhile! :D

Okay, I get to book in 26 1/2 hours! Well, I do if they let me book at 1201! Hopefully the schedule for Jan will be up right at midnight.

Dang, I thought for sure they'll have it up today, but so far, no 2010 dates are up. Guess I'll keep checking back every day. Maybe I should just be a pain and call them?:D

We checked into prices for June of 2009. For a family of 4 with airfare from Denver (and the hotel since we'd fly down a day early) it was going to be $8,750!!!! Yikes!

We got the same prices it seems really high. I don't know but 9 years ago we flew and went on a 5 day cruise for around $2500. And we had a room with a window. I think the thing that freaked me out the most was the drill at the beginning where you put on the life jacket and go out on the deck. Just made me think of Titanic too much

Well, I had been pricing Jan 09 prices to try and get an idea and every month they price would go up. The longer you wait the more expensive it gets, that's why we want to book right off the bat! I just checked and still not 2010 dates. I don't understand because all the preceding months were rolling out on the first of the month (like Dec 09 dates came out the beginning of last month, Nov 09 the beginning of Apr, etc.). I wonder if one of the ships are going into dry dock and they just haven't figured out the schedule yet or maybe if they're waiting until more of 09 is booked?

Either way it's driving me crazy! LOL

See we got a kick out of the muster station drill thing. We just made fun of each other in our life vests. :)
We've been on a Carnival cruise which is about $3,000 less than Disney!! Yikes!!! But Disney just looks awesome! All that Disney hospitality can't be beat!! And I just love love love the Disney theme EVERYWHERE...including all the Broadway style shows etc etc etc. Really Danette, you'll have to take 1000 pictures for us!!!!!!

Just 1000 pics? I'm thinking I'm going to have way more than that!

And I have a question about the drill, on our ship port (left) side up was up and forward (towards the front of the ship) and starboard (right) side was down and aft (towards the back of the ship). What that means is that if you were on the port side, you can only move forward to the front of the ship and if you need to change decks you could only go up, and starboard side you moved aft to the back of the ship only going down ladderwells. This kept traffic jams from happening. The passageways(p-way) running from port/starboard could be use to cross over to the side you need depending on the direction you're going. Does that make sense?

Let em see if I can get an example (pulling stuff out of the air, have no idea how their stations are set up):
My muster station is located aft on the 4th deck on the starboard side. I'm on deck 6 port side. They sound the alarm. I then at that point start moving forward in the p-way until I find one that will take me to the starboard side. I can then go all the way aft and then find a ladderwell that will take me 2 decks down.

Or is it a free for all and any way you can get to your station is how you get there?

I don't remember having to follow a plan. They gave us directions when we boarded the ship..then about 20 minutes after we pulled out we had our drill. I don't remember having to follow rules to get there?!
