Driving, golf, and knights.

Today was the was the day! We were going to be heading down to Orlando and I couldn?t wait! We had the car packed down and had everything ready to go, or so I thought. Now ya?ll know I?m a planner, packer, list maker, and a schedule keeping freak right? Well let me tell you, that morning you would never have been able to tell, it was a horrible morning!

We get up at 5 am, the plan is to get up, brush teeth, grab the stuff and be out the door by 545 to be at Starbucks at 6 am (when they open), grab breakfast and coffee and hit the road. That so did not happen. Yes, we got up at 5, brushed our teeth, threw my hair dryer and hair brush in the bag along with my makeup stuff and we load up. It is 550, not too bad, just a few minutes off schedule. We start driving and I was under instructions from my mother to text her when I leave, good thing I listen to my mom ?cause I went to text her and guess what, no cell phone. Great, turn around and go back. Run up, grab my phone and run back out . Still not doing too bad on time. Start driving, text mom, and then decide to hide most of our cash in the car so I go to dig it out and guess what, left it at home. So turn around again, run up get the money, run out and we?re off, finally! And then Jake asks, do you have everything? I said yeah, (I?m mad at myself at this point so one word responses are all I?m giving at the moment). He then proceeds to start asking about things, did you pack this, is this with us? I?m answering yeah, yes, yep.....getting annoyed when he asked, where are the tickets? Okay, ya?ll don?t need to know what was said then because my sailor mouth came out, I had left the stupid tickets at the house. So we turn around the third time, at this point I?m about in tears, we?re about 45 min behind schedule so am really not talking. Jake bless his heart was just telling me it?s okay, at least we remembered them now (unlike my mother who laughed her butt off when I told her what I had done) and we?ll make up the time. One final time I run upstairs, get the stupid tickets (I mean all the tickets, park, MNSSHP, and Medieval Times) look around and realize our bag of snacks for driving was sitting on the table as well. I was so not on my game that morning.

So, we finally make it to Starbucks at 710, grab coffee, tea and muffins and hit the road! Our bad luck was still coming, the muffins were icky, very dry hardly any flavor. Sigh, our vacation can only get better from here, right?

Fast forward to 330 pm, we arrive!! And we made good time, no traffic (not even in Atlanta) and only ran into maybe 20 min of rain. We check into Rodeway Inn Maingate (I?ll get a full report for that as soon as I can) and okay, we spent $37 to stay there, will probably never stay there again. It wasn?t to bad except I saw 3 bugs, the carpet felt icky, like it had a slightly sticky film on it (I wore shoes after I felt the floor), and then discovered where the bugs were probably coming from, the almost a 1/2 inch gap from the bottom of the door. We maybe spent a total of 8 hrs in that room, most of that sleeping so it was okay for that and for us.

Anyways, we checked in, changed and then went over to Winter Summerland for some mini-golf. We decided on Winter Summerland instead of Fantasia Gardens because we wanted to do both courses and the second course at Fantasia Gardens is suppose to a more serious course, not as silly as the other courses. We did play the winter and the summer course. I beat Jake on the winter course, he beat me on the summer but for both courses we tied (I actually got the same score on both courses). We had a good time playing, listening to Christmas music, and laughing at the props on the holes, a couple of them spray water at you so you have to be careful or you?ll get wet like I did! If you play both rounds in the same day you get the second round half off which was nice, but it?s still expensive at $37 for both of us to play both courses. They do give everyone who plays keepsake golf ball, ours have Goofy playing one of the holes.

After putt-putt we still had plenty of time before our dinner at Medieval Times so decided to drive over to Downtown Disney and walked around for a bit. When it got closer to dinner time we headed out to Medieval Times. We got there right before the show started so didn?t really get to look around but did manage to get little flags to wave for our knight, the black and white knight. We had pretty good seats, although it looked like all seats would be good. We were up towards the top and in the center of the arena. Let me tell you, the things those guys do while riding a horse is amazing! I could never ever get an itty bitty pole through a ring suspended from the ceiling just on my own two feet, couldn?t even think about sticking me on a galloping horse and trying to spear the rings. The show was really good, some parts were really cheesy but it was fun. When your knight comes out you?re suppose to cheer and make noise and when any other knight is out, you?re suppose to boo them. I think I almost lost my voice that night cheering for my knight. With your ticket you get a tomato soup, yummy, garlic bread, like the Texas Toast you buy in the frozen food section, potato wedges, very yummy, chicken also good and ribs. I didn?t eat my ribs, I don?t like them but Jake says they were very good as well. Oh, and 2 drinks, either 2 beers or 2 Pepsi?s and an apple pie thingy, almost like the ones you get at McDonalds. We actually bought a bottle of wine as well ($5 per glass or $18 for the whole bottle, we got the bottle) but they had a full bar, anything from there was extra on your bill though. The wenches and slaves (waitresses and waiters) bring all this to you and one of them comes around and takes your picture which you can purchase at the end of the show, we got ours ?cause we?re suckers. After the show we headed to the hotel room for bed! And no, we didn?t finish that bottle of wine that night, for those of you that were wondering! LOL

Day 2 Trailer: My first steps into the Magic Kingdom, camping, the first magical moment of the trip, and Extra Magic Hours.

I don't have pics yet as it was taking too long to upload them to photobucket, I'll post them later.

I...am...amazed. You posted already?!! Yea!!!! :)
What a start...but I second the...."good thing we realized it before we got there" thinking!! :) I can just feel your pain though!
So mini-golf lived up to your expectations??!
We too bought the pictures at M.T. They were a hoot. Did they superimpose your faces to different bodies. Funny! :)

No, we didn't get to MT early enough to do that, they just took the pic at the table before the show started. Mini-golf was fun! I was happy I actually beat Jake for one course, that never ever happens! LOL Next time we're going to play the Fantasia Gardens

Wow D - what a tough morning you two had! Good thing you were not flying - you would have missed your plane - so think of it that way :)
The mini golf sounds fun. Christmas music in October. Scary :)
Can't wait to read part two.
