Hey folks,
We arrived yesterday around 2'ish. We got checked in and headed to the Magic Kingdom. The crowds were light and we walked on to the Haunted Mansion, Small World, Carosel, Snow White, Pooh, Pirates, Monsters Laugh Floor, and rode the TTA (it too was a walk on, but always is).
Today we were in Epcot. The weather started out great, but turned rainy with lots of wind mid-afternoon. We were pretty much ready for a break, so we retreated back to the hotel. Now the weather has turned worse with thunder and lightening and it is bitter cold. It's suppose to improve by tomorrow so I think we'll have a quiet night at the resort.
So far, the best part of the trip has been our hotel. Although we've stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort before this room is amazing. It's recently renovated, so we have the Nemo theme going on. We are not overlooking the parking lot (like we did the last time), but instead a lush tropical courtyard with benches and tables. Plus our room is an end unit so we have a bay window with two big windows, which makes this such a nice sunny room.
Just a few steps from our building are beaches with hamocks and lounge chairs. We watched the fireworks from our beach last night (the ones from Epcot).
We ate at Coral Reef today for our late lunch. Not sure yet what we are doing for dinner.
Glen's Segway tour is tomorrow morning.
Hope everyone is well, and I will right a real trip report when I get back!

Not including the weather your trip sounds great so far!! I hope it clears up for you though!! You could always head to Quest to hide from the rain. :)
Don't forget to take pictures of your room for us! :)
Did you scream on TTA for me? If not, go back and do it tomorrow! :)

We got a break in the weather today. It was perfect. Bright blue skies and a comfortable 68. Glen did his Segway tour which he loved. I was able to observe his indoor instructions and took lots of pictures.
We only went on one ride....Imagination. Linnea wanted to walk around World Showcase and do the Kidcot activities.
Because the weather was so nice, and Linnea is so fascinated with our faux beaches we came back around 4 to relax at the beach. I have a book that I'm totally sucked into so it was nice to relax, and drink a glass of wine while Linnea made friends and ran around in the sand.
We need to head out for dinner in about an hour. No idea where we are going, but I think we might go offsite. I'm hoping for a Cuban sandwich from Publix market. I can't get those back in Colorado and they are sooo good.
By for now!

Ah Heaven....reading a good book on the beach...in the middle of Disney World! :D
Oh, I forgot...how did L like Haunted Mansion!!!???!!! Is she gearing up to ride bigger rides (think the mountains, not tower of terror)??
Did you get your Cuban sandwich? That's funny that you go to the World and all this great cuisine and you want a sandwich from the grocery store?! :)

Linnea was pretty good on Haunted Mansion, but is unsure if she wants to go on it again. Splash is closed, and I know Space Mountain would be too much for her. We'll think about Big Thunder. She did go on "Honey I shrunk the Audience", and although it didnt' cause her to cry, she was pretty scared.
Yes, I love a good supermarket sandwich. :D Not the pre-made ones, but the ones with really good deli meats. I did have a great lunch today. Prime Time (at the Studios) has a wonderful vegetarian dish. It's a pepper stuffed with rice and ratatouis. It's terrific, but it was just Linnea and I, and she had chicken nuggets an hour ago. So she and I sat at the bar, I got my stuffed pepper and she had a childrens sundae. r sundae was just $1.99! Wow, Mickey bars and such are in the $3.00 - 4.00 range, and we got to sit indoors.
True, we didn't get the interaction that you get in the dining room, but I really was in the mood for a quieter lunch.
It was pretty cold again today. I hear it could get busy tomorrow thru Monday. MLK day here in FL runs Friday thru Monday, and if it's in the 70's the locals will come out in throngs. It's suppose to be in the mid to upper 60's, so we'll just have to wait and see.
We rode Toy Story Mania twice this morning. It was a total blast!
Glen and Linnea are at the Caribbean Beach food court. I'm still stuffed so I'm taking a little break. We have fast passes for Toy Story Mania later this afternoon and will probably head back and do that for a third time!

Elaine,
Sounds like a great trip so far!
Now, about the roller coasters:
Alex LOVES Space Mountain now. It is a nice, smooth coaster.
He HATES Big Thunder. It is more jerky.
Plus I think there is something to a ride in the dark. When you can't see where you are going it can be less scary. If you are going to try her on one, try Space first. And when you get back, remind me to show you the picture we bought of us on Space - front row.
You missed about 6 inches of snow here - so enjoy that nice weather!

No, no, no...I am going to disagree with you Leanne. ;)
At WDW Space Mt is in solo seats and it is rough. I would do Thunder Mt as you can sit next to her and keep her calm. Plus it will be in the light. We still haven't taken Kyan on Space as you have to ride by yourself in the seat and you sit behind them. It took everything out of me to keep ahold of Trey's shirt in front of me and to keep myself calm.
This is just my opinion. Sounds like a great trip, wish we was all there to join in the fun!

I agree with K. Single rider with Mom behind you will be a bit scary. But if she can handle Big Thunder she'll be fine on Space. :) But...baby steps! Don't want her freaking out and having a bad vacation right off the bat!! :)
Wow, her sundae was only $1.99! Wow!! Nice! Do you get any of the fun interaction at the bar?
So, now that you've ridden Toy Story...what's your favorite ride?!

Hey folks!
It started off cold, but most of the day it was pleasant. It's cold again this evening. Epcot has late hours, and Glen and Linnea headed off to Epcot. I need to relax and have a quiet evening so I'm here in the hotel room.
We had a great lunch at Kona Cafe. I think it was our best meal so far, and we hope to go back one more time. It's been easy doing the sit-downs without ADR's. We arrived at Kona Cafe at 2:30 and only 6 tables were occupied. True, we do tend to eat at odd hours. I took pictures of the food and will write more when I do my trip report.
It's starting to get busy at the parks. At MK today we just did the race cars and Tom Sawyer Island. All the usual walk-ons had 30 minute lines. Even Haunted Mansion and Monsters Laugh Floor which are 5 minutes, had huge lines. I think MK will have to wait till after the MLK holiday.
Linnea got to ride at the front of the monorail twice today. We also saw someone throw quite a hissy fit on the monorail...funny story and I'll write more about it. But the incident did show how fabulous Disney's customer service is.
I hope everyone is doing well. It's suppose to warm up on Sunday. That's good and bad news. Good because it's been so cold, but bad because it's MLK weekend and if it warms up we'll have all the locals headed into the parks.
I hope everyone is doing well!

I totally forgot about the different seating arrangements at WDW Space Mountain! Thanks ladies for reminding me. I am sure Alex would not like that one either.
Home this weekend Elaine? We all miss you, and poor Rae asks almost daily when Linnea will be back. Alex has asked a few times, but knows you are at WDW and is jealous. lol
