Day 4 Our supposedly rest day

Today we decided that because we were having a late night at the Halloween party that we would have a rest day today and just take things easy. So we woke up as late as we were allowed by Seth who had slept through most of the party so he wasn?t utilising the opportunity for a sleep in. Why do kids not realise the benefits of sleeping late arrrrghhhh. We didn?t have anywhere to be until our 4.00 pm reservation at the Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT so we had a nice leisurely breakfast and decided to go and do a spot of shopping at the Florida Mall so I looked up the map that tricky little map and worked out where we needed to go. It was raining as we set off and we congratulated ourselves (somewhat prematurely I might add) of deciding to have this day as our rest day.
Then we hit a traffic jam, it would appear that everyone had the same idea as us this day and thought they would get a jump on their Christmas shopping as the road was hardly moving. Anyway the kids had woken up from their nap and where getting a bit hungry so we decided to stop at a Wendy?s for some lunch and then go and have a look in the massive Walmart near it. WOW did I have fun. Got stuck in the Christmas ribbon aisle brought a whole lot of Christmas type ribbon and some packaging with my poor husband dispearing on how we would get it home. Luckily for him I changed my mind on the toys I had picked out for the kids. Everything is so cheap over there compared to here it is just so frustrating having to pay double for it here and we don?t have nearly the same variety of stuff. We did a bit of shopping picked up some more nappies and wipes for the kids and headed off home to unpack it all before heading to EPCOT for dinner reservation. Upon arrival Doug and I went and got fast passes for Mission Space while Grandma and Pa and the kids walked over to Nemo. We got back and got into line for the ride and the kids enjoyed it again, when we came off the ride we wandered around the aquarium, we were going to get a photo in the Bruce?s mouth but the line was way too long. We then went and checked in for our meal at Coral Reef, we had a very small wait before being shown our table which was the second tier next to the tank. So it was a great position, no body could crowd our table to get close to the tank to see but we were facing the tank with nothing in our way of the view. There was a fabulous massive turtle sitting right in front, which was a great debate of whether it was alive or not. Cullen and I both had drinks with the flashing Captain Hook and Tinkerbell in it, I had the standard drink it came with and Cullen had sprite, he took a liking to lemonade (our word for sprite, seven up) every time we sat down at a place to eat, he would look at the waitress and say straight up lemonade and chips (fries) please, didn?t matter if it was breakfast, lunch or dinner he just thought that is what you ordered.

We didn?t have starters here as we weren?t really hungry after our supposed light lunch. Grandma had a starter for her main of Land and Sea which she said was lovely. Doug and Grandpa had Blackened Catfish, which Doug loved Grandpa found it too spicy, I had grouper on a scallop and mushroom risotto and it was heavenly, tied with my meal at Californian Grill for best meal of our trip. Cullen and Seth were to share the Grilled fish of the day which was suppose to be salmon but they came back and said they didn?t have any I can?t remember what they replaced it with. They ate a little bit but both kids were quite tired and weren?t really interested in eating. Well Seth was but he just wanted milk, and there wasn?t a lot of room in the booth to get him on my lap. He was a little cranky but did ok, he did eat a little bit of his fish when I mixed it with my risotto. Dessert was a must and Doug and I had the Chocolate Wave and the Creme Brulee and shared half each, can?t remember what the others had, I remember liking my desserts. Seth ate the fruit yoghurt that came with the meal and we ordered ice-cream for Cullen to eat. The waitress, was ok she seemed a bit busy and flustered and given it was only 4.00 I had a feeling the rest of her shift wasn?t going to go that well, I remember asking her for something and she didn?t seem too happy with the request. Obviously she got her tip as we were a table of 6 and it was included and her service wasn?t so bad that I wanted to ask to see the manager and get it reduced.

After dinner, we thought we might ride with the kids on Ellens Energy Adventure as we missed it on our first go round at EPCOT. So we wandered over there and walked right in. Now while we were standing around watching Ellen DeGeneres do her thing the kids were not doing well. We also didn?t know if this was the entire attraction and we would have to stand up for all of it. They then mentioned you could leave so we did. Grandma and Grandpa rode while Doug and I took the kids outside. They said they enjoyed it but it was a wise decision not to ride with the kids. Doug and the kids played on the grass outside the ride and I went shopping. Got the kid their first soft toy Mickey Mouse toys. The line to be served was massive. When I arrived back the kids were filthy with running up and down the grass well Seth crawling up and down the grass. Grandma and Grandpa arrived out just after I got back and then took the kids to Innovention while we (Doug and I) headed for Mission Space. Now I was all keen for the Orange side not one that scares easily by the time I got to getting into my spaceship I was quite worried that it was going to be very bad. Well it was fabulous the best ride I think at EPCOT. Hubby not as keen on it but he is always good to try something once but I wouldn?t have got him on it again well not that day anyway. I would like to do the Green side to see what the difference was. Now I did feel a bit sick afterward but by golly that wouldn?t stop me from riding it. Did I mention best ride I did at EPCOT......

After our ride we went and collected the kids and Grandolds from Innoventions, Cullen was having a fabulous time (from memory) he was pushing buttons????? (may not be right) To make a door slam. What ever he was doing he was having a great time. Seth was done in by now and getting a bit cranky so we said goodbye to EPCOT and headed out and home. Yes we got lost but we were getting better at finding our way back home it was certainly taking less time.

Sounds like a fun day (besides the traffic jam)! Does that mean you never made it to the mall?? Just to Walmart?
We loved Coral Reef for the atmosphere but had to admit that it was the worst service we had all week! Did the turtle move for you while you were sitting there (cause yes, it is alive)??

Nope never made it to the mall, although in our second week down near Palm Beach I made up for that. Yeah the turtle eventually moved. I knew it was real but Grandpa wasn't convinced, until it moved.

It was lovely thanks I had read mixed reviews but decided to give it ago. I did love my meal and I think it helped going so early and to be honest we eat early with the kids and by the time you get seated, and order it was around their dinner time anyway. I would go again if we make a return trip at any point.

We love Coral Reef. Oh,and I have to agree with the grandparents about you skipping Ellen's journey. It is a 45 minute show/ride and it can be intense for lil ones

We love the food at Coral Reef....I've had the mahi mahi both times. First time service was pretty poor, but on our last trip it was very good.

Thanks for the report....I need to keep working on mine!

We had wonderful service (I think the best for our trip) at the Coral Reef. At first we were getting aggravated that he seemed to be taking forever to get our plates and bring out the dessert but later found out that he was stalling so we could see the divers (and my sign, thanks ladies!!). Jake and I both had the Mahi Mahi, which is something we never do but he said he wasn't going to get something he really wanted and then have me switch plates with him (like I've done a few times in the past) so we both just ordered it and OMG it was sooo good!

We didn't do Ellen's Energy Adventure, once we found out how long it was we were like, ummmm that's cutting into ride time so we skipped it. And at innoventions, yes there's a spot where you can make the doors slam, but I think it's when you step on the numbers on the floor (if you jump up and down the door swings instead of slams). We did that for a bit as well (yes, two adults jumping up and down, should have seen it! LOL).

I didn't want to ride Ellen's either...but it had dinosaurs...and heaven forbid we skip dinosaurs!!! :) But that was ok since he didn't actually get to SEE the dinosarurs on Dinosaur (too scared). ;) How many times can you say dinosaur in two sentances?
It was long...and I agree with D...but into ride time way too long! :) But I'd still 'ride' it again. (not really a ride, though your seats DO move)

Well, I'm sure when I get to go back, (DEC 2010) with my mom (who's a weenie!) we'll need to sit down for a while and that will be perfect to do.
