Well after not getting my trip to Disneyland Paris (sorry Cullen not getting his trip :o) we are stopping in Hong Kong on our way to New Zealand. Accommodation seems to be very expensive in Hong Kong and we found it very difficult to find 1 room to accommodate all 4 of us. So because it was on a par with the rest of accommodation in Hong Kong we have booked at Disney Hollywood Hotel for the 5 nights. It has great reviews. It will be my birthday on our last night there, unfortunately they are not running the same promotion as the Disneyland California and Disney World seem to be running but still it will be fun to wear one of those badges. The Hotel is only 30 mins from the centre so that is less than a trip into London from here and the kids manage that ok. So we will spend a couple of days at Disneyland and the rest seeing the sites of Hong Kong.
So yay two visits to a Disneyland park in two months I am one lucky girl this year.

You should pm Cat. Her husband is currently stationed over there. She may have some advice for you. Wow 5 nights in Hong Kong. Boy, I wish I could do the trip you guys are planning. Those boys are going to have quite a passport.

Oh, go to the Temple Street Night Market, it's fun to walk up and down and see all the stuff for sale (and you can get some pretty cheap souvenirs there as well). I would love to go back to Hong Kong, when I went there wasn't a Disney park there.

I've been to HKD 3 times in the last 3 years. It's very fun to see the park grow!! The park is still missing some attractions (ie. Haunted Mansion and POTC), but I've had a blast each time I went there (even though I got rained on all 3 times!!). Anyways, staying at the hotel will be good, and there is good transportation provided to HKD, as you can take the Disney Resort Line from the resort to Sunny Bay, and then get to HK or Kawloon. As Danette said, Temple Street Night Market, and other things like the ladies market. The night show at Hong Kong Harbor, along with the SoHo (the large escalators) area, and of course Victoria Peak are some things that I enjoy doing while in Hong Kong. Maybe a word of caution though, is the check the MTR times, in particular the Disney Resort Line at Sunny Bay. I believe it has a somewhat early closure, which might force you to take a more expensive taxi for transportation if you do many of the night things in Hong Kong.
Isabel and I stayed at the Disneyland Hollywood hotel there. Very nice. As a tip, you could get a significant discount on room rates (15%) if you bought a year pass (their cheapest pass was like $83.00 US).

I have been investigating the option of buying an annual pass I had read somewhere I can buy a childs pass and still get the discount which would obviously be cheaper as well. The hotel gets such good reviews so I am really looking forward to it. I also like the way the characters are said just to wander around the hotel and even Goofy has been seen swimming in the pool with the kids. I don't think we will be doing much night time stuff with the kids but will see how they are doing, I don't want to completely tire them out before we get to NZ. We are going to go up Victoria Peak and probably to see the big Budha, a bit of shopping, I need to do some more reading up on it all. I got a book out of the library the other day. Thanks again for the information it is very helpful.Kirsten

First, I will say that I was wrong. I actually stayed at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel with Isabel, and not the Hollywood Hotel. We actually got a free upgrade there because when we checked in, we were put in a smoking room and I argued a little (we had requested non smoking). Anyways, we took advantage of the stay and play promotion, which allows you to get a second ticket from the hotel for free, if you buy your ticket there. They are still running the promotion (this is nice, but remember you have to go to the park on consecutive days). As for the Giant Buddha, it's actually very close to the airport and Hong Kong Disneyland. Another fun thing that I would recommend Ocean Park. It's actually a little bigger than HKD, and has a couple thrill rides. The panda exhibit at Ocean Park is by far the nicest I've ever seen, and it has a very beautiful jellyfish exhibit, and a really neat cable car lift connecting the two parts of the park together.
