I have booked a vacation for Jan.2010 just a short 3 night disney cruise my daughter will be 3 months short of 3 years old (33 mths old). This is be our first real vacation for her & mommy. My question is how much will my daughter enjoy? The characters will be great, as I know she will love them. She loves shopping and the water now. But what about anything else? I just read in one of the forums that she need to be potty trained or she won't be allowed to go into the pool? I'm planning to start potty training her shortly and hopefully she will be trained within 10 mths :w00t: No diapers or swimmers allowed in the pool (with the Mickey ears, pool) Has anyone taken their 3 year old on a short cruise like this?:)

Welcome to the boards! Unfortunately, I have yet to go on a cruise, and I don't have any children yet so I cannot help you out. I do know they have clubs that you can check her into, but I believe she has to be 3 for the youngest club, I don't know how strict they are on those ages though. I have heard that swimmers and diapers are not allowed in the pool. I'm sure you will find plenty to do with her though and I'm sure she'll have a blast!

Yes I am sooooo excited and she gets excited when Mommy is excited! :P She's so close to 3 that I don't know how strict they are about the age thing. I am hoping to get more insight from this forum. :D

I really don't think anyone on here has been on a disney cruise. I have been on a cruise but it was for my honeymoon. Maybe you can try contacting the customer service for the cruise line and they can help answer some of your questions.
Good Luck

I haven't taken the Disney cruise..but I've been on Carnival. She will have a blast! Even just Carnival had SO much for EVERY age to do from 1 up to 101! I can imagine Disney will be a TOTAL blast!!!!!
My husband wants to take a cruise...and we really want to do a Disney one. But my son is 5...and lets just say..adventurous. I'm terrified he'll jump overboard! I know, it's a silly fear...but that's why I've been dragging my feet on the cruise.
You'll have to let us all know how it goes!! And become a regular here to pass on your knowledge!!! :) Are you doing the land and sea package (I forget what your post said...just remember it's 3 nights)?

I just priced a 7 day in June with airfare....$9,000!!!! No way!!!! Guess I'll have to price off season (read that hurricane season)!
Your daughter would love WDW now too. But I know it's too late to book that part! Definately think about it for next time though!!!!

Wow that seems expensive! I got my cruise for $1249 US dollars, it includes the ground transportation for 3 people. Nana is coming with us! We are in Cat.11 which is a cheaper but I figure its only for sleeping right? We are going to enjoy the full ship!

I priced 7 nights for 4 of us. That was also during peak season. I went back and checked again for September (hurricane season) and it's $4500. That's with no airfare though. You must have gotten a great deal (like kids sail free!).

Mynde, try a shorter cruise, maybe coupled with a land package and see if that brings the price down a bit. Jake and I got our Cat 7 room for Jan 7 nights for around $3500, we could have gotten a stateroom for a lot cheaper (like around $1600) but we wanted a balcony as it's our honeymoon. Next time we cruise it will (hopefully!) be with kiddos and we won't need a balcony as much as we'll need to save the money.

I was on a cruise on the Disney Magic for 7 days in Jan. 2002. I do remember a time when they closed the childs pool because of an "incident" .
My cousins went with us, and including a 16 year old and a 13 year old and they had a blast!! This was my first cruise (I have since been on 2 more). I'm sure it's still very much geared for a family vacation, and children of age 3 should have a great time!
