We have twin (will just have turned 3) girls that we know one for sure is autistic & the other probably is as well (just don't have the "official" word yet). I was wondering if there were other parents here on the boards that have autism in their families & have traveled to Disneyland or WDW?? If so....looking for tips that will help our girls survive this type of sensory overload.
We will be driving about 12 hours the first day & then about 5 the second day. We will have 6 days in the parks, plus one day at Knott's & one day of Hollywood/Santa Monica. We've picked a motel with high reviews & a huge water-play area (including toddler pool). We plan on going in the mornings, taking an afternoon break, going back for a while late afternoon & evening & then have the adults take turns getting the girls in bed at their normal time in the motel.
We are taking their strollers for comfort & will get a Guest Assistance Card to help ease keeping them in long lines & being able to take the stroller into places they allow wheelchairs.
Anything else we can be doing?????
